When I type in the ip adress for the router 192.168.0.1 I get an error message "503 service unavailable" after trying over and over I finally reached the login page, but when I logged in it said "the network is down" even though the network is working fine. This has never happened to me before.

Hi! I tried to figure out some explanation, and I think it's possible that both WAN side of the router and LAN side of it have same types od ip adresses, maybe the default 192.168.1.***. That means that the WAN port of the Router, the ethernet port of the modem, the wireless and LAN ports of the router have same tuype of adresses, maybe all asigned by DHCP. To be sure, I suggest you to: 1. turn of the modem 2. check that the network connection obtains ip adress automatically 3. in a dos prompt (START - RUN -CMD) type IPCONFIG, it will return among other infos the adress of the default gateway. 4. now type that adress in the browser. 5. if it works, log on to the router and change the LAN settings so that the adresses used in the LAN will be different from the WAN, let's say 10.10.10.1 and so on
could you tell me the Router model number to find the right Ip adress of your Router go to start the run type cmd press enter and the type ipconfig press enter if you get default gateway 192.168.0.1 then you can connect to it also ping it and see if u get reply if need help please contact me on http://computernetworksupportindubai.com/
what is the model and the model number of the router that you have? Also did you try resetting the rrouter from the back? Most routers have a small hole in the back of them, just use a paper clip and hold it down for 30 seconds and that will reset the router back to the default factory state.
If your on Windows XP open Run and type cmd, when the command prompt opens type:
ipconfig /renew (please note the space between ipconfig and /
If you using Windows Vista:
Press The Windows button. Type CMD Right Click CMD.EXE and Select Run as administrator Select Continue when prompted by User Account Control Type ipconfig /renew and it should release and renew IP address.
