Question about ViewSonic OptiQuest Monitor

Solid line completly across screen, monitor is brand new

I just bought a new screen (Samsung Syncmaster 204b, 21in) and for the first few days it was just fine. Then all of the sudden there was a line one pixel in width going all the way across the screen. I promptly hooked it up to my other computer to see if it was just my machine and it was still there. Now three days later i have another line at the bottom of the screen where the task bar is. The lines change color when i move the cursor over them and will fade in and out with different screens. This is actually the second time this has happened, I returned the first monitor that did it and now the second one is doing it. Is it a manufacture defect, or is something wrong with my comp? Your response is much appriciated. Dan-O- Monitor worked fine the first week.( Optiquest - Monitor 24" model #Q241wb )Then a solid horizontal green line (about 2-3" from the bottom of the screen) went the width of the monitor. (the line is about 1/32 of an inch high - a pixel?) The the line started quickly turning solid green all the way across the screen. I connected the monitor to another computer and the line still runs across the screen. Any suggestions? thanks :)

Thanks for the info. I changed the refresh rate on the computer( and left it there) and rebooted, but to no avail. I tried this on my second computer, but I did not have success either. :(
    thanks for the good advice.

p.s. The nice folks at Viewsonic did not have this thought when I spoke to them.

I was able to fix this problem by turning the monitor off, then turning it back on. Green Line. Gone.

Your comp's video card refresh rate (in Hertz, abbreviated Hz) may not be totally compatible with the monitor. Check the properties of your video card, and change the refresh rate (you may have to look around for it) to 60 Hz. This is a pretty standard refresh rate that works with just about every monitor. If it's already there, I'm afraid someone else will have to try and help!

Hope this helps, and please rate my answer, good OR bad.

Good luck!

Sorry, I didn't mention that this wouldn't fix your current problem. The monitor you have is fried. However, this advice should keep it from happening again.

    Good luck.

SyncMaster 204 Samsung monitor has no power

Have you tried to plug it in else where?
If you did and still same problem then from what you said I was hopping that it wouldn't be your problem, but you will need a new monitor.

May be a manufacture defect or the Screen goes wiped out during transportation.

I had a similar problem on a different monitor and fixed the green sparkles by selecting a lower refresh rate.

Try to delete that picture you downloaded in the first place and then reboot the system.

Yes. There is no vertical deflection. The circuit that controls vertical deflection is bad. This is an easy fix for a TV tech. Take it to the TV repair shop.
