  • ahalikias Apr 04, 2009

i had the same issue. the base was ok, the handset was not. luckily, i was able to find a reconditioned handset on ebay for under $30. everything's great now.

  • Anonymous Apr 08, 2009

Both handsets - the one on the base and the extra one - state "No link to base. Move closer to base."

The set is about ten years old.

I was able to have a chat with someone from Panasonic - they got me a copy of the owner's manual on-line and I was able to de/re-register my phones so they both work now. Hurray!

I got an extra handset from someone on EBay and got this message when I tried to use it. I was able to contact Panasonic- chatted with someone and got online access to the owner's manual - I had to de/re-register both of the phones and now both work perfectly.

Your getting this message because the radio portion of the handset or/and base is not communicating with each other. This can be temporary or fatal. You can try re-registering the handset(s) to the base by following the directions in the manual, its fairly easy to do for any model. If that does not work, and you have more than one handset not working with this problem, then it sounds as if your base needs repair or replacing.

SOURCE: My cordless phone says No link to base Move closer

This is the usual message that the phone gives when the battery has died and it has lost connection with the base unit. The usual fix is to remove and reinstall the battery, then place the unit on the charger for a full charge. This will usually fix the problem that you discribed. If after a full charge, you still get that message, you will most likely need a new battery. Good luck...

The key symbol is supposed to be an antenna.

It can't receive a signal.

There are a few possibilities:

- Too far from base. Move closer.
- Base is unplugged (no power at base station)
- Phone has become unregistered (unlikely).

If you need to re-register the phone, the process will vary depending in the model of the base station and will be covered in the manual.

Both handsets tell me to move closer to base

Is the phone base near any microwave ovens, radios, televisions and other electronic products that could cause radio-frequency interference (RFI)? How far away from the base are you when it tells you to move closer to it?

When I press the talk button it says: No link to base. Move closer to base. Try again

Hand each phone up on the base and it will marry it. If you continue to have no link to base make sure everything is plugged in correctly. If it persists you probably have a defective phone.

My panasonic kx-tg4321bx didn't give connectivity response rather than it gives a message "No link to base. Move closer to base, try again"

Well, you could move closer to the base, or try this: RE REGISTER the HANDSET. That works every time when our cordless goes stupid.

Phone says no link to base phone stop working

Try unplugging the base unit and plugging it back in again. This is not guaranteed to help but has worked in the past.

I have the below-mentioned problem with my Panasonic Cordless model KX-TG3531BX No link to base. Move closer to base, try again. Please contact me on 9879590311 or email me at ritu_vpatel@yahoo.com

place all handsets in the base unit for about 1 minute each. This links the handsets to the base. Sometimes the handsets lose their link to the base unit. If this doesn't work try to call Panasonic tech support for further information, the phones could be defective as well.

No link to base

It sounds like you may be getting interferance from somewhere. Try moving the base unit to another location. Avoid putting by other electronics. T.V.s, microwaves, and such can mess with the signals. Hope this helps Good Luck!
