Sansa e200 mp3 player not starting

This appears to be a common problem as I peruse these threads, but I'm at a loss what to do.
Basically the blue ring is the only thing that goes on. I have tried pressing record and menu button when locked , "Welcome to recovery mode " does comes on, I plug USB cable in but my computer but it will not recognise it.
I have downloaded e200w01.00.12 tool but to run this program my computer needs to recognise player first.
What do I do ?
Any help would very much appreciated
Frank

Hi. Well, my player was fine today until i turned it off and then tried to open it up again several hours later. i tried to turn it on when it was on hold, so of course it went to automatic shutdown. so then i took off the hold switch and tried to turn the player on, but i got no response. i then tried to plug the UBS cable into the computer, but the computer doesn't recognize it and the player won't turn on even when i put on the hold switch, press and hold the record button, and plug it into the computer. If you can help, i would greatly appreciate it. Thanks!

You can enter recovery mode by first:
Making sure the player is off
Push the hold switch towards the headphone jack so you see orange
Press and hold record on the left of the player
With record still being held down, plug into the computer
Once you see welcome to recovery mode on the screen of the player, let go of record
At this point you can reload the manual firmware. You will probably need to contact sandisk so they can give you the link to the file.

Hello! I have a chance e200 which is blocked,

HERE YOU HAVE A SOLUTION

Recovery Mode

I was having a problem with my player and after a little back and forth they showed me a back door to recover the system:

If your Player wants you to start in recovery mode

1. Activate the "HOLD" function 2. Press "Rec" and hold, while ath the same time pressing "ON/OFF" button and hold.

After some seconds of pressing there appears a screen reading: Recovery mode: Connect cable Now connect to your PC. A folder 16mbFORMAT will appear under 'My Computer'. Call SanDisk technical support for the most up to date firmware files. 1-866-SanDisk

Note: The firmware is available online via links in their forum at http://forums.sandisk.com/sansa/

There are currently 2 version of the e200s, make sure you get the proper firmware for your version.

Copy the .MI4 file from the zip to the 16mbFORMAT folder.

The one thing I don't see mentioned in thread is to format the device completely, create a new directory called "sansa.fmt" in the 16mbFORMAT folder. Then, unplug the usb cable from your computer. Powering down will not reformat.

Sounds like the problem I had. I followed the instructions for "Load image failed" appears after updating e200 firmware". It's item #3 in the list.

I found the necessary files in the forum (my Sansa is the e270 v1). The files can be found here:
