How do I connect my cable service to my new Hitachi 21" tv?
Hello! I recently purchased a new Hitachi TV. However, I was not aware it was made in Japan. The company sent me an adapter for the extension cord. But, I can't figure out how to connect my cable service to the set. Could you please provide instructions to me, whether I need to buy another accessory piece?

The service person who told you so is correct. EF series LOTs are of old National Kit, and is not available now. If you have a chance to get it from somewhere, it will cost more that RS 800/= ie about $18, and with that money you can purchase a new kit for your TV, provided your TVs picture tube is good. Just do as you like in this case. Todays TV kits are assemled and aligned, comes with more than 250 channels and includes all accecories, like remote handet, fitting material and so on. OK.
Your TVs power supply regulator section has got some trouble with it, that is why power indicator doesn't light up. You have purchased it only fourteen days back, surely there will be warranty for it. Do not open the TV. The company will give no concession if the set is opened. Send it to the authorised service center and get it repaired. Some power supply faults may fatal, and may have to spend more. Since your TV is a new model, spare part availability in the open market may be difficult. Send it to them and let them do the work. OK.
I own a One-for-All universal remote (model URC-4220), and my booklet says the setup code for a Hitachi TV is either 0000 or 0145. If these numbers do not work, then I would buy a newer universal remote. They can purchased at Walmart for less than 10 dollars.
