Make sure you have saved everything you want from the card on your PC, then format the card (FAT 32) with the card in the card-reader.

Then put the card back in the camera.

Can't guarantee this will work, but it's worth a try.

Hi,

Remove the batteries wait a few minutes. Put fresh batteries back in and turn the camera on. This resets the camera. Then remove the memory card from the slot from your camera. Then insert back and check you will not be getting this error.

If still there is some problem, take the memory card out and copy the pictures from the memory card to system and then format it. Insert the card back to the camera. You won't get the format error.

Hope this helps.

Well my camera is a Casio Exilim Anti-shake DSP. When i put all my photos onto my laptop i tried to put them back on the card. But after i tried i turned on the camera and it says "MEMORY FULL"...

Okay, you put your pictures on the computer hard drive but, the pictures will still be on the card until you format the memory card in the camera. So then you loaded the pictures back on the card so in fact you have two sets of the same pictures on the memory card maxing out the cared capacity. I doubt they will show on the camera because there will be different file formats one from the camera and another from the computer. So to clean things up first make sure you have your pictures on the computer hard drive then safely remove hardware or eject the camera memory card and unplug the cable. then go into your camera settings looking for "Format" might also say initialize but format is pretty well universal anyway find format and follow the screen. Formatting cleans off the memory card and reformat the card back to new to receive more pictures.

Your problem is very simple to fix :) if you follow the steps I'm giving you below. First, i have to ask you, the memory card you put in it, was it a new one? Most likely not and it most likely had some pictures on it. When you put a used memory card in a new camera, the camera sometimes doesn't recognize the format on it and it responds by shutting off. What you need to do is follow these simple steps:

1. Save all you pictures from the card on your computer (if you have any)
2. Turn the camera ON and press Menu then go to the settings tab that has a wrench and hammer symbol.
3. Go all the way down to Format... (make sure your memory card is in the camera)
4. Hit the right 2 times till OK is highlighted orange.
5. Press SET then highlight OK again.
6. Now turn the camera OFF and back ON. Try taking 2 or 3 pictures and try to scroll through them.

Your camera should not turn off anymore, the reason being because the camera built its own data on the card and is now recognizing the entire card, not just part of it. It's recommended that you don't switch memory cards between cameras and if you do, make sure you format the card.
Good luck!

I was having the same problem and contacted Casio. The issue seems to be that there are pictures/video on your internal camera memory which is conflicting with the memory card. Here is the fix:
Turn of the camera and take out your memory card Turn on the camera, click menu, setup, hit the up circle twice and click reset and click reset again until the camera resets
Then click menu again, setup, hit the up circle twice and click format, click format again until the camera formats
(This will delete the pictures from your memory card so make sure you have them saved) Turn off the camera and put your memory card back in, turn the camera on again. Repeat the format process for your memory card and you will be good to go!

Olympus 850sw- write protect and picture error

Sounds as if the memory card has corrupted data on it now. You will need to format the memory card. This will permanently erase all the data from the card and then you will be able to use it again. To format the card: Press the Menu button - right arrow to Setup Menu - right arrow to Format- Press Ok. You will see format yes or no. Choose Yes and press ok. This will clear the write protect and picture error messages and the card can be used again.

Memory card error

Not sure what happened, but the pictures are not on the camera.
If the card was blank when put back, then they are lost.

You should always format the card on the camera once you have downloaded the pictures to the PC. This ensures the camera can read it and it is happy the card is OK. Don't rely on any cards formatted by a PC.

I am sorry once you format a card the images are gone. most of the time. if they are real important pictures then there are services out their that can retrive them. you might want to take out the memory chip turn on the camera and see if you still have photo's on the internal memory.

Format Error in Sony Cybershot

i think this problem arises when you fail to regularly format the card ie. take lots of pictures and delete some and repeat the process over and over instead of downloading every session and formatting the card causing coruption. Also if you've bought pro duo memory stick off ebay poss. its a very good forgery (again i've been caught out by this).
