Question about Dacor PMOR30SS Microwave Oven

Dacor PMOR 30SS 1100

I have had to kill it at the breaker box as it will not shut off, though the turntable isn't rotating

It is the fan that won't quit running and the light stays on, earlier I had the exhaust fan on for just a few minutes, then my husband heated something and it wouldn't stop running and I hadn't used the cooktop.

    Thanks

Jamison665 was you using the microwave when this happened? Reason I ask is that all microwaves over the range have a temp sensor so if you are using the cooktop and don't have the vent fan on the OTR running, it will turn on the fan if it gets to hot. Once this cools off, the fan will quit running. When this happens, it is only the fan that is running. I think this may be it since the turntable will rotate when the mircowave cooking section is in use.

Turntable will not rotate and food will not heat up.

If it is not cooking and the turntable will not turn, this sounds like the secondary interlock switch is bad. Almost always this failure is caused by opening the door when it is in a cook cycle. Pushing the stop button before you open the door will prevent this in the future..

Turntable will not rotate.

If it's also not heating, on the DMT2420, that's a bad bottom door switch, or possibly that switch's mount.

Otherwise, it may be a bad turntable motor, turntable coupler, or the control circuit board (which we repair).

The service manual is here and the parts list is here.

Re. Viking DMOS200 1100 watts microwave oven does not turn on

I'm guessing that's a VMOS200?

If so, that's a rebranded Sharp R-530ES (as is the Dacor DMO2420S) and its secondary interlock (bottom door switch) or that switch's mount is bad.

See this file on door switches. If you only need a switch, you can order a universal type here for $5 postpaid.

The Sharp R-530E service manual will aid you in disassembly and it is here.

Dacor DMT2420 turntable not rotating.

It may be a bad turntable motor or coupler, or the motor may not be getting power due to a bad connection or relay on the control circuit board (which we repair).

Need part

There is an excellent site www.applianceprosparts.com that has parts for your oven. Also Dacor has an official site that you can find on the internet that has that brands particular parts and accessories. There are pictures as well to be sure that you are getting the right part. Between the two you should find exactly what you need.

You can see and hear a video of how a turntable motor should sound when you rotate it by hand.

If yours won't rotate or it sounds like it's grinding, etc., you may have a bad motor or plastic coupler.

To replace either, you need to unplug power, then remove the bottom cover of the oven. You may have to cut the cover off with snips, then use a screw when reassembling it.

Here are those part numbers:

66388 Turntable motor
66489 Turntable coupling

You can order either of there here.

Heats but tray does not rotate...

This one does not have a turntable shutoff option, which is available most commonly on over the range models.

You likely have a bad turntable motor or turntable support (the 3-legged part with rollers).

If yours is a Dacor DMT2420, it is essentially a rebranded Sharp model R440DK/DW / R540DK/DW.

There was an issue with the original turntable motor on these Sharps.

The new Sharp turntable motor kit is part # RMOTDA264/KIT and they are available from Tritronics at http://www.wehaveparts.com

I cannot guarantee that this is the correct Sharp part for this Dacor, but I believe it is, based on the other parts being the same.

Another thing to be sure of is that your turntable support does not have a cracked coupler (the part that connects to the motor) and you need to be sure the legs are straight.

Sometimes heat and weight cause the legs to bend so that the coupler will no longer go down far enough to make contact with the motor shaft.

To fix these, I use a gas stove burner or torch to heat up the area where the legs connect to the hub, then I turn it upside down with a weight on the hub / coupler and leave it until it cools.

This straightens the legs back, and you can do this once or twice before you have to replace the support. But if the support is cracked or charred, it needs to be replaced.

The Sharp turntable support part number is FROLPB025MRK0 and it's also available from Tritronics.

If you don't want to take the chance, the Dacor part numbers are:

66245 motor Ref # 1-11
66184 support Ref # 6-3

But it will depend on your supplier as to whether these are original parts prone to failure or the new and improved parts.

You can order the Dacor parts from sources listed here:
