SAP I have Two problems 1: Only certain channels have good sound quality, the ones that dont have good sound quality sound like they are on really low volume but when you turn them up, you only get static and it still sounds soft 2: Somehow I turned on the SAP on my TV and I cant change it back and its only for the one channel that has sound. some of the channels have no sound, only static. This is new problem that only just started although the sound has been low on some channels for awhile. I have changed batteries and tried a different control with no luck.

Hi Suezie,

The problem is most likely your SAP being turned On.

SAP was created for audio programing including translations into a 2nd language. On nearly all sets, the SAP being ON will essentially select an alternate audio stream and will de-select or mute the main audio from the channel your are viewing. However not all TV stations have SAP enabled.

I am the Chief Engineer of a TV station in Denver, CO. We are not using SAP so if you selected SAP while watching my station you would get noise or static. There would not be any audio there.

Go to the front panel of your TV and select the "MENU" function. Step through the menus to Audio features and De-select SAP or Enable your main audio and this should take care of the problem. Alternatively you might be able to unplug your set for a period of time and it would reset itself. I used to get calls from elderly viewers when the set wouldn't pick up the UHF TV stations anymore. These were always after a power failure and the set had defualted to factory settings,

Different set manufacturers use different menu schemes and withou a password feature, these menus are so simple a small child playing with those fascinating buttons can change them for you to something you really don't want.

Good luck and write back if you can't find it. The set manufacturer and model number would help me look up a menu tree for your TV set.

Thak you,
Bernarr Howell

If you can get to the setup menu you should find the sap settings under audio or something similar, deselect this. SAP is for alternate language/or alternate audio signal that are broadcasted for the channel you are tuned to. Sometimes there is an AM radio broadcast for some SAP broadcasts, but more often there is no audio broadcast. Hope this helps and please let us know if it does.

Why the sound only on certain channels and some channels start speaking Spanish?

You most likely have the SAP (Second Audio Program) feature enabled. Many shows do not have this sound track and that is when you hear nothing. When the SAP is on, it is usually in Spanish for English-speaking programs. Check your TV remote for SAP and see if you can disable it.
tip

No sound on certain channels

Your TV is equipped with SAP mode, this mode allows you to hear sound in a different language if available, if that second language is not available on that channel you will get no sound on that channel, this is a very common mistake which occurs when some one presses( usually by accident) a button on the remote control, the button is displayed as SAP on remote control or as secondary audio in audio mode in menu, simple to resolve is to switch this setting to STEREO on audio setting.

Stereo SAP will not come off a few channels , no sound on these channels

Do a factory reset to this set. The Secondary Audio Program [SAP] to all channels will be cleared. Refer its user manual for details.

No sound on certain channels

Hi leelee, some cable and air signal channels have a separate audio program in the signal(commonly known as SAP) it may be that the SAP is activated or turned ON in your TV. This no sound condition only shows up on those channels that have the provision for it, but the signal is not being transmitted, that's why you have no sound on those channels. You will have to look for the sound key on your remote control and deactivated from there, or you might have to actually select the menu and scroll down to audio features, it is sure that you will find the SAP feature turned on. Good Luck

Sound problem!!!!

Hi, new one on me but heres one thing you should do with that comcast box, un-plug the AC cord on the comcast box for about 1 minute, plug it back in and be patient while it re-boots, can take as long as 4-5 minutes, this re-sets all the logic states in the box, hope this helps.
