SOURCE: Saeco talea touch - grinds & brews coffee into grounds drawer??

Try this, adjust the grind to a coarser setting atleast 2 numbers, then remove brew unit and look behind at white plastic valve, there is a small chamber under valve make sure chamber is clean and that the small discharge from chamber to drain tray is also clear. Then remove shower screen from brew unit and clean if necessary, also check the tube from the shower. Reinsert and test.

I don't know much about this unit, but there might be a rubber seal in head where the porta filter locks in to. It is possible that this seal is either damaged or just corrupted with grounds. Try cleaning it out and or checking the seal for damage.

How do you use it?? just like a reg coffee maker only with no glass carafe?

Yes, it works just like a regular coffee machine, like mr coffee, but instead of using 8 or 12 cup glass craft, it makes one cup at a time, put coffee grounds in to your desired strength , put water in container and put cup under and have a great cup of Joe. Thanks Mr Bean

The filter is filling w/ liquid instead of draining into the coffee pot.

The release button on the bottom of the grounds basket is not working or the small drain hole is plugged. Make sure that you are using the correct size #4 paper filters to hold the coffee grounds. Remove the basket and check to make sure that the release button is working freely. Put some water in the basket and push the bottom of the basket. The water should drain. If it does not drain, You will need to replace the basket assembly.
Check the carafe to make sure that the lid of the carafe is pushing the drain button up to release the liquid in the basket.
Let me know if you have any other questions. Thanks.

Started leaking all water all of a sudden. Instead of making a cup of coffee, it all leak out from the bottom. water is luke warm. The Kurig barely 6 mos old.

The machine need to be desasemble and be working without side panel in order to visual find the leaking point, their many posible places and this the only way to find it.
This procedure need special care since their are many power cables are exposed when the machine is without covers.
Good luck and thanks for voding

My cuisinart cofee maker is clogged. Water goes

OK, I Fixed it. Overcame mutiple issues. Here's the deal.
1. Call Cuisinart. If your in warrenty, they will just ship you a new one.
2. The issue is that ground overflow the basket and clog a check valve in the water line.
3. instructions assume coffee maker is positioned upside down and with water chamber closest to you.

Solution: Dissasemble and flush grounds out.
1.Remove botoom plate.
They intentially made it impossible to get into There are custom 10mm torx screws with nipples in the middle (like compaq computer did to prevent us from opening computers). Answer DRILL them out. Extreme sounding but really pretty easy on the cheap soft screws.

Drill out four (4) screws and Remove bottom piece.

2. Free up Bottom plastic base. (hoses and wires will prevent true removal)
Next issue is getting long (4 inch) size #0 screwdriver and removing 5 phillips screws. I had to got to home depot because Target and walmart didn't carry anything small enough and long enough.

3. Remove left silicon hose (Orange).
Lots of stuff here.
a. pull BOTH hoses off the plastic (not aluminum) nipples down inside the coffee maker. No clamps, just pull up.
b.Move LEFT metal clamp back off alum tube on the left hose.
c. work LEFT hose off tube (know that it is full of grounds,,,)

4. Flush
CAUTION: Don't force this next step with water pressure. THere is a check valve which is supposed to stop flow one direction. You can feel the checkvalve and see it once grounds are out.
a. Clean hose out. Logic says use sink, but I just used water in my mouth to gently go back and forth and grounds flowed into waste glass. flush FROM metal clip to water chamber. Get all grounds out.
b. you can validate check valve working again because you can feel flow only goes one way as you swish water back and forth (again mouth works great)
b. Re-attach hose to alum tube
c. Flush from left hose through tube through right hose into waste glass.

5. Reinstall.
a. know that circuit board has to be seated in slot
b. position base on and install 5 screws
c. THEN attach hoses to plastic
d. put on base plate. Mine kind of snapped in place, but I put clear tape on it to hold it there. A real mechanic would of drilled out the screws and installed larger ones. Meh.

I dont know how to make coffee

Water Level ////Amount of Ground Coffee

42 Cups --2 ½ Cups
36 Cups-- 2 Cups
30 Cups- -1 ¾ Cups
28 Cups --1 2/3 Cups
24 Cups --1 ½ Cups
22 Cups --1 ½ Cups
18 Cups-- 1 ¼ Cups
12 Cups --1 Cup

1. With basket and stem removed, fill coffeemaker with COLD water to desired level using the cup markings on inside of coffeemaker as a guide. Do not make less than 12 or more than maximum capacity of the coffeemaker at one time.
2. Place stem into heating unit in bottom of coffeemaker, then put basket on stem. Spread the recommended amount of ground coffee evenly into the basket. See chart. Use regular electric perk grind coffee or coffee ground for all coffeemakers. Do not use drip or finely ground coffee as flooding of the basket can occur.
3. Turn cover in place on coffeemaker. To reduce coffee spills, especially if coffeemaker is tipped over, make sure cover has been turned clockwise until it is completely secured in the handle slots. (Note the arrows on the cover for correct turning.) The cover temporarily reduces coffee spilage if coffeemaker is tipped over, so care should be used when moving coffeemaker.
4. Place coffeemaker on a dry, level surface. Attach cord to coffeemaker and plug into a 120 volt AC electrical outlet ONLY.
5. Coffeemaker stops perking automatically. (Each cup of coffee requires about 1 minute brewing time) Serving light will glow when coffee is ready. Before serving, use a hot pad to remove cover, then carefully remove stem and basket from coffeemaker as coffee and grounds are HOT. If not removed, bitter oils from the coffee grounds will drip into coffee. Replace the cover making sure it is completely secured into the handle slots.
6. Coffee will remain at serving temperature as long as coffeemaker is connected to outlet. (if you have an insulated coffeemaker, the sealed-air insulation will keep coffee hot for up to two hours without electricity.) To serve, place cup and saucer under faucet and press down on handle. If a continuous flow is desired to fill a carafe, lift handle straight up until it locks into open position. When approximately one cup of coffee remains in coffeemaker, disconnect from outlet.
TO MAKE MORE COFFEE: If another pot of coffee is desired right away, partially fill coffeemaker with cold water to reset the thermostat. Pour out water, refill with cold water and repeat steps 1-6.
TO HEAT WATER FOR INSTANT BEVERAGES: Plain water may be heated in your coffeemaker for use with instant beverages. Simply fill the clean coffeemaker with cold water to the desired cup level, and then place the stem and empty coffee basket in place. Using the stem and empty basket will heat the water more uniformly. Secure cover in place and plug coffeemaker in. Heat water until perking stops and serving light comes on. Unplug coffeemaker when less than 1 cup remains. Other than making coffee or heating water, no other liquid should be heated in coffeemaker as damage to heating unit can occur.
When coffeemaker is used to heat water only, the metal inside will discolor which is normal and does not affect performance or the water heated in the coffeemaker. Refer to Special Cleaning Instructions in this manual for removing discoloration as well as mineral deposits, which form inside the coffeemaker when heating water. If these deposits are not removed, pitting of the metal inside may occur and result in damage to coffeemaker. Refer to the cleaning your coffeemaker section

Francis francis x5-espresso splatters all over

1) The coffee you are using may not be ground finely enough to provide a proper extraction time, resulting in water rushing through the ground coffee much too quickly. Think of it like water running through a handful of pebbles as opposed to a handful of sand. You want "sandier" coffee.

2) Your gasket (the rubber part that seals the portafilter to the group head) may be worn/damaged and is leaking water when you are brewing. Attempt to contact FF! or Saeco to secure a replacement gasket. When you are not using the machine, don't tighten the portafilter all the way in to the head, either leave it completely disengaged or only loosely attached. This saves wear on the gasket.

3) Your brew water may be too hot. Purge your boiler right before brewing by running water into a bowl without the portafilter locked in. After a few seconds the superheated water will be run out and you're ready to brew.

Saeco portafilter instructions

When using ground coffee, use coarser grind like the size of table salt grain. Feel the ground coffee for adjustment. Do not tamp, just level the cup with coffee grounds and lock the portafilter into the group ring. Pull the handle all the way to the right and hold. Turn espresso hot water switch on. Hold the portafilter pulled all the way to the right for 5 seconds (pre-infusion pressure builds up to 9 bars). Release the handle at the end of 5 seconds. Espresso shots should be max. 2-Oz. in the cup. For larger quantity, use two shots. For an Americano, add hot water instead of allowing 8-Oz. water to pump through the coffee grounds.
