I dont have those buttons on my player .. so it seems i cannot change the setting. Manufacturers are crafty in that when a remote is lost/broken, you have to buy a new one.

    Thanks for you're help!

Surprisingly, and I've never understood why this is, the remote has a lot of functions on it that the buttons on the dvd player doesn't have. I think it is more likely that it ISN'T possible to do.

Look on the front of your DVD player. If it has a "menu" button and a four-way directional pad, you may be able to stop whatever dvd is playing, go into the dvd player's menu and change the settings that way. If not, then you can't.

Tell me about it. It is really annoying.

Occasionally you can get a universal remote control that will also give you access to the basic menu functions on the dvd player. So that's another direction you can try. Of course, it is hit-and-miss. One universal remote might let you while the other doesn't! ;)

    Thanks for the rating, btw.

Are you in the US? Your TV system is NTSC. The player possibly plays NTSC and PAL(European system) discs on PAL TVs only. Try to find out from the user manual of the DVD player if you can change the output signal to NTSC. Now it is PAL even though you are playing NTSC discs.

I have attached a DVD Player to my LG TV, using the appropriate cables. I have sound and a black & White picture. What have I done wrong please?

It is very simple, the mode of your DVD or TV is not correct. Check the NTSC/PAL setting's on your remote control for the DVD player. If your DVD player is on PAL system, then you TV should also be on PAL system. Likewise for the NTSC system, possible to put both on AUTO mode then do it. Don't get confused it is just a simple setting which you can do it without any problem, and in future you can do it for others.

How do you change the DVD player mode from PAL to NTSC ?

I just found the way to change the setting from PAL to NTSC.

While the unit is turned off , press the EZ View button on the remote control. Press alternatively the select between the PAL or NTSC setting on the unit display. That's it.

Set up video output

Pal output will only work when it is plugged into a pal tv. The only way you can restore is to use the remote to put the settings back to ntsc without using the display. That should work. If you don't have a pal tv you should never change devices to run on it, because it can damage your tv set. The scanning lines are very different between the two systems.

PAL problem

Hi!

The DVD player you have is only compatible with NTSC TV. There is no way of changing that to PAL.

It is compatible though with PAL discs. It will convert the video signal of a PAL disc to NTSC format.
