HI, Do one thing While PS3 is in standby mode press and hold the power button on the frond panel of PS3 for 30 seconds (factory reset). After doing this you will get video from its composite video.
Also check the hdmi If you didnt get the video through HDMI then, PS3 out puts Full HD 1080P video through its HDMI out put. IF your tv doesn't support Full HD then it will display format not supported or Software not support. If you want to get video through HDMI then do the following. Connect the PS3 to any Full HD tv (friends or relatives) and go to its menu ,select HDMI settings. then down scale the video from 1080p to 1080i. After that connect the PS3 to your tv you will surely get the video. Ajin
Try these tips to fix the so-called "black screen of death".
Tip 1: The main reason of HDMI black screen problem due to HDMI
cable may be damaged and not properly connected to the PS3 console. Please
follow below step to troubleshoot PS3 HDMI cables problem:
1) Restart your PlayStation 3.
2) Look for loose cables.
3) Try to unplug all cables except the power cord, and plug them back
in. If you found out that your HDMI cable is damaged, borrow a
friends cable and try it. If your friends cable works fine, and the
black screen error disappears. Then you can buy a brand new HDMI cable
for a replacement.
Tip 2:Only try as last resort. There is a possibility you'll lose all data on your PS3'shard drive. If tip 1 didn't work, you will need to go a step deeper and reset your console. Most PS3 gamers are not aware that Sony
actually included a black screen of death troubleshooting method and
other HDMI problems in the PS3 manual, you can find it under
the troubleshooting section - topic "console reset".
If you do it correctly, the console reset fix will allow you to reset
back your PS3 to its default HDMI settings without impacting your gamer
profile, and other storage data on the hard drive.
You will need to perform the following steps:
1. Place your PS3 in stand-by mode.

4. Release the power button.
5. Follow the instructions on screen.
HDMI is available in several versions. The PS3 is compatible with HDMI version 1.3 or higher, which will take full advantage of Blu-ray Disc™ high-definition video. There are also "Type A" and "Type B" connectors. The PS3 uses the 19-pin Type A connector, which will allow resolutions up to 1080p. The HDMI cable is not included with the PS3.
Cable adaptors (i.e., HDMI to DVI converters)
If you are using an adaptor (i.e., HDMI to DVI converter), try bypassing this adaptor and connecting the HDMI cable directly into the display.
Check the adaptorTry an alternate cable
Try connecting with the supplied AV Cable instead of the HDMI to see if you can get a successful installation. This will help determine where the problem may be with your particular HDMI setup and/or equipment.
Some older HDTVs may have issues with the copy protection protocols (HDCP) causing the handshake not being communicated between the TV and the PS3. Try resetting the TV by turning the TV and PS3 off, then unplug the TV power cord from the outlet and plug it back in. Then turn your TV and PS3 back on and see if the picture appears.
Try using a different the HDMI Cable on the PS3.Make sure the HDMI Cable is free of any cuts, frays or other visible damage.
Try installing the PS3 to another TV or display (i.e., monitor).
Try using the HDMI Cable with a different PS3 system.
You will need to turn on the PS3 and hook it up with rca so you can access the console menus. Turn it on and get to the main dashboard.

This should resolve the problem. We've seen PS3 consoles that would not reset by performing a hard reset. We were able to resolve this issue through the settings menu though.
Let me know if it is still giving you issues.Hank
You have to reset the display setting and this is how you do it. make sure ther is no disc in the system, turn off ps3 in the back (main power switch), turn that switch back on and you should have a red power light, hold the power button, you will hear a beep right away and the a 2nd beep a few seconds later and then let go of the button. The light should be green, if it still does not work try the steps 1-2 more times. If this does not work, you will need to cal 1-800-345-7669 to get your ps3 serviced
You need to connect the PS3 to the television with both connectors (HDMI and Component). Then in the display settings change it from HDMI to component and during the 30 seconds that the screen goes black you need to disconnect your HDMI cable from your playstation. Then switch to the input that the component cable is connected to on your television (ie. AV1, AV2, etc). From here you will see the countdown for the test and you can continue with these settings.
Hey i just posted i have the same problem as you do but then I checked the SONY PS3 website and it solved my problem. Try resetting your video output. I'll paste what it says on the PS3 website but if that doesn't solve your problem go to the website. They have a bunch of troubleshooting solutions for this problem...
If while manually changing the Video Output Settings, the screen
remains blank for more than 30 seconds, you may need to perform the
following steps to reset the Video Output Settings.
Make sure the Component AV Cable is connected to the [AV MULTI-OUT] port on the back of the PLAYSTATION 3 system.
Connect the other end of the Component AV Cable into the video and audio RCA jacks of the TV or display monitor.
While the PLAYSTATION 3 system is in standby mode (red light on the
front of the system), hold down the touch-sensitive On/Off button on
the front of the system until the system goes into standby mode again .
(So the light cycle would go from: red light to --> green light
--> then back to red light) This will ensure that you have held
down the On/Off button long enough to reset the Video Output Settings.
Turn ON the PLAYSTATION 3 and once the system finishes powering up,
the Video Output Settings will automatically be reset to the standard
resolution (or detect the current display output settings of your
