Question about ASUS EN7900GT/2DHT/256M GeForce® 7900 GT, (256 MB) PCI Express Graphic Card
My husband and son purchased this new graphics card. They've installed it to our windows xp system and while they're playing either world of warcraft or dark messiah, the screen will go black, the computer still runs in the background, however, they have to restart in order to see anything. They've done several things, including upgrading screen resolutions, downloading sound card upgrades, patches for the game etc.
The new graphics card seems to be pretty hot. not sure if this matters or not, but any other ideas for us to check would be helpful. The sighs and groans coming from the direction of the computer is making me more frustrated then them, I think. Thanks for any help you can give.
My nvidia 7900 gs runs at 133 degrees and it worked fine, and I noticed on ntune monitor panel that the icons ram,HD,and card, etc were all red. Until I had nvidia "ntune" crash on me and it caused my card to crash on startup. I uninstalled ntune, replaced current drivers and its happy now My question is, is 133 deg too hot for 7900? I have scowered the internet looking for answers and i can find none =( Yes sometimes the fans runs High I have the side panel off. I didn't think the cards running to hot because I can hear it spin up/down when playing mid range games, ( Midevil Total War) and it plays perfectly.
Any help would be Great!

It is very possible for the PCIE card to over heat. As you mentioned in your post it is a bit noisy. To confirm this issue. Remove the Pc's (side panel), exposing the motherboard & video card. Start the Pc & pay close attention the fan attached to the video card. Is it making a lot of noise? A few things you can do.
Make sure the video will continue to run for hours by not playing any games. WarCraft is a Graphic intence program.
You can chat with tech support live at, http://livesupport.asus.com/ M-F. If you feel the fan on the card is bad/too noisy, Asus may just replace it.
Lastly you can add a 3" or 4" (quiet) case fan to the computer's side panel. Cutting a hole in the case that will direct fresh air directly onto the video card. This may be needed if there is very little fresh air capable of reaching the interior of the Pc. Try the above first, save adding a fan till you chat with tech support. You can call Tech support M-F between 8:00am to 5:00pm. at 812-282-2787. Eastern Time. 1 other suggestion. A 256DDR3 though a good card can't beat this card just for the warranty which is Lifetime warranty. http://www.zipzoomfly.com/jsp/ProductDetail.jsp?ProductCode=10007404
The above is not a quick fix but it will all work out. Have alittle faith. If there is anything else you may need just post back here & I'll help you out!

go to start run and type in dxdiag a self diagnostic test will come up for the drivers.
perform all the test to make sure everything is ok. based on what you are saying i think the answer probably lies with the direct x drivers. These games need direct x 9c or 10 for it to work so check the version of the directx when u do the diagnostics.
New graphic cards run hot is not unsual, check the temp in the video card properties or via the nvidia tools for temperature. If you are below 80 degrees then you are ok.
