Wife had similar problem. local verizon store technician asked her if she used a headset - when headset is used external audio is muted - seems, somehow, the phone was "stuck" in headset mode even after the headset had been removed. solution was to re-plug in the headset and remove is slowly. hope this helps.

I have the same problem with my samsung jet. My solution, which ALWAYS works, is to swith off the phone and switch it on again. Having said this, the jet is a joke and couldn't have been worse. I remember it being advertised as "smarter than smarphone!"....smarphone my ***!!!!

My blitz's speaker phone wont work. and the open/close, on/off, and ringtones, wont work... help! ive gone thru all sound settings and everything is "on" i can hear my calls thru the regular handset...

Try these couple of things:
The speakerphone feature lets you hear audio through the speaker and
talk without holding the phone.
  1. To activate the speakerphone while in answering or calling modes,
press the Navigation Key to the right.
  2. The phone returns to normal (Speakerphone Off) after ending a call
or when the phone is turned off and back on.

To adjust the ringer, key tone, voice call and speaker phone volume levels:
1. Press left soft key [MENU] (7) (1) (2).
2. Select the type of volume you wish to adjust.
3. Select the desired volume level.
4. To confirm, press OK.

Let me know if this works for you or if I can help you with anything else.

Speakerphone

When you have an incoming call, or when your making a call three buttons should appear. One says Spk. On , one says Mute, and one says Keypad. Just touch the one that says Spk. On, and your speaker should be working.

Keypad doesn't work

I'm thinking this may be a failure of the phone that is not related to the ringtone, unless there's such a thing as a virus that can nuke a cellphone. I've had two RAZR phones die on me (neither in this method), but anything with a keypad such as that on the RAZR will eventually have trouble. Stop into your provider's store and see if it's something they've seen and know how to correct.

Keypad stops working on handsets

After you remove the battery and the two obvious underlying screws, you will need to pop the two halves apart. This takes some force and you may break some internal plastic clips, but you have no choice. There are approximately six internal plastic clips, so don't worry about breaking one or two. The screws hold it together securely anyhow. Then there are 5 more little screws to get the back PCB off. Then use nail polish cleaner and q-tips and clean the contacts on both the rubber pad and the PCB.

The keypad will work like new again - magic.

Handle Speaker phone stopped working

I'll assume this is on the base station portion. You can try unplugging the power while the phone is in the base, wait a minute, then plug back in. If that has no effect, I'm afraid you either have a failure in the keypad or in the electronics. To diagnose a keypad failure in the base, you'll need to disassemble the base. You'll find each of the rubbery keys momentarily connects two traces on the keypad circuit board when you press a button. You may also find the keypad fouled with dirt, liquid, etc, which could be a likely cause of failure. You can try manually shorting the two traces where the SP/Phone button would press and see if you are able to activate the speakerphone/dialtone. If that works, then carefully clean the keyboard circuit board and the rubbery keys. If that does not work, I conclude you have a bad keyboard circuit board or other electronics in the phone are bad.
