Question about Garmin StreetPilot C330 GPS Receiver

1 Answer

I love this unit!

I've owned this unit for two years now with absolutely no problems. I brought it in from the garage yesterday and now the system turns on for a second then shuts down to nothing. I plugged it in to charge overnight but still nothing. I can't find my user manual. Some speak of a reset button. Would that help or would it remove all of my maps? Any suggestions?

Resetting should not remove your maps. Have you purchased new maps since you bought the unit? Have you tried charging the unit via the computer, or just with the car charger. Sometimes charging on the computer can help.

I bought at Garmin Nuvi 1300 GPS for my daughter for Christmas. She just tried to use it for the first time yesterday and it doesn't fit the cigarette lighter. What can we do now???

It's strange if the plug doesn't fit the cigarette lighter socket. They can be a tight fit so if you find it a little big for the socket try putting pressure on it to push it in. If it absolutely won't fit you can buy cigarette lighter plugs in car accessory shops. If you can get one that does fit you can cut the one that's on the lead off and fit the new one.

If you cannot get any plug to fit you can get the lead wired permanently into the car. Any garage would be able to do it for you.

Hi, I have a question please. I got a TOMTOM 920, the problem start 2 week ago. Any time I charche it the batery stay less than 10 minutes, ether on in the car and is plug it won't stay more than 20...

Detailed instructions to replace the battery on a TomTom 920 are here:
(Just download the .doc file and open)

I will post below, but the original instructions have pictures that may not be visible below

TomTom GO x20 (and probably x30) Battery Replacement
First, you’ll need to procure a matching Lithium Polymer battery. I’ve run across others of the same type on the net, but have noted odd numbers of wires and mismatched connectors. I purchased the “real deal” at under their part number AHL03713100. They don’t seem to realize that they have more than just a GO920/920T battery. Trust me, the 720 and 720T use exactly the same pack. Each uses the same 3 pin connector.

As I have yet to own either of these in the x30 flavor, I can’t say with absolute certainty that the pack is identical in all respects, but I’ve heard nothing to the contrary.

If you purchase from, you’ll also receive a couple of torx head wrenchs and a plastic tool that looks like you’d use it to remove miniature bicycle tires. The miniature slot and philips screwdrivers won’t be needed unless your unit was built with different screws than mine. Come to think of it, I believe my original 720 used philips screws.

Step #1 – Remove Antenna Plug and Screws
Start by flipping the unit on its face on a soft surface. Remove the antenna plug with your fingers, and remove the two screws indicated...

Step #2 – Separate Display from Case

Using the screwdriver or something slightly larger, push on the threaded insert where the screw had been until you begin to see the front of the unit move away from the case. Move back and forth between the two sides. It may be a bit sticky. Carefully pull the top of the unit away from the case. The bottom of the unit is held into the case mechanically using a little hook mechanism. Don’t force the separation. Lift the unit away from the hook on the bottom during separation.

My Tom Tom 920 will not stay on the map screen for more than a few seconds.

Its sounds like a problem with the screen then. If it is still under warranty, return it

White Screen

The "White Screen of Death" was a problem plaguing the TomTom One V3 about a year ago. This was brought up in another FixYa thread here-

As the solution suggests, call the manufacturer and you can easily have it fixed/replaced

Unable to attach my new tomtom 930 go to the windshield mount, how do you unscrew the mount site at the back to fit into the nmount?

I have owned an off brand GPS unit for about 3 years and wanted to upgrade to a TomTom GPS unit. I have recently purchased a TomTom ONE XL. The TomTom will not stay mounted to my windshield. I have cleaned the suction cup and the windshield and nothing has helped. After the unit has been mounting for about 30~45 minutes it will fall off the windshield. I am afraid if this continues my TomTom GPS unit will be damaged. I have never had this problem before and as I mentioned earlier, I have owned a GPS unit for about 3 years. I noticed that the TomTom mount is very cheap built. Can you send me a better mount for my TomTom One XL? I am very disappointed in the unit so far and I only owned it for about 2 weeks.

May be you decide this problem?

when this happened to me, the battery was absolutely drained. Charge the hell out of it, plug it into your computer and turn it off, ie put it charge mode. ALternatively try this

If you are having issues with new software and you need to revert back to an older software version please go to the link below. You will able to choose your unit and revert back to the software the unit was on before the update. Please let me know the outcome of reverting back to the old software and whether this recifys the issues the latest software brought. This is good for us to know as we can look into any bugs there may be in the current software for this unit. Thank you
