Universal Remote MX850, RF commands not sending, but IR commands work. Reprogramming and new batteries did not fix. Other like remotes work, so it is in the remote itself, not the receiver.

My sansung remote quite working, replacement universal remote was programed to the tv but the tv will still not respond. What's next?

You likely don't need a new remote. Certainly not a Universal.

Samsung remotes for LED / LCD TVs are generally RF, not IR.
Most Universal remotes do not generate RF signals, so disregard advice about codes for Universals.

Try this:

First, fresh batteries, and clean battery contacts if needed.

Then, Try Pairing procedure:
  1. TV off
  2. Bring remote within 3 feet of TV
  3. Push Pairing button (Paper Clip or other pointed object in button hole)
  4. Turn on TV
  5. Should be paired. Try remote channel or other buttons.
  6. If not, try 2 more times.
  7. If still not working, push RESET button first and repeat Pairing.

Please rate if Helpful.

Good Luck !!

I have a hr21-700 and bought a universal remote (logitech harmony 900) and the unit will not respond to rf commands? I went throught the setup process in the menu option, help

The DVR must be set to use IR instead of RF. The RF Blaster that comes with the remote converts the RF from the Harmony remote to IR commands.

Why want the remote recognize my directv HR22 remote

Hi. A lot of DirecTV remotes actually use UHF, which is a form of RF. The Harmony remote can only send and capture IR (infrared) commands. Make sure you have your DirecTV device set to receive IR, and if you have an IR remote, or can set your remote to IR, then it will work.

IR doesn't transmit

I suggest that you contact Logitech to see if the remote is replaceable. are you out of your warranty period? (This is 90 Day free support and 1 year for the Warranty period) Also, when contacting them, have this information ready:

The PID of the remote:
*found under the battery.
The P/N of the remote:
*also found under the battery.
The PID of the RF Wireless Extender:
The P/N of the RF Wireless Extender:
Full Name:
Phone number:
Street:
City/Town:
Country:
Zip/Postal Code:

also let them know that you have already updated the firmware.

Logitech Harmony One remote is controlling 2 TiVOs at once.

Please try learning the some commands from one of the original remotes for thr tivo. If this fixes the problem, i suggest that you learn all commands from that remote.

Launch the Logitech Harmony Remote software and login to your account

1. Click on the Devices tab
2. Click on the Learn IR button for the device you want to learn command(s) to.

**NOTE: When learning new commands, there are three different options available:
-You want the Harmony Remote to learn a single command that is already listed in the software
-You want the Harmony Remote to learn more than one command at a time
-You want the Harmony Remote to learn a new command, which is not listed in the software

You want the Harmony Remote to learn a single command that is already listed in the software
a. Click on the Learn button next to the command you want to learn - Proceed to Step 5

You want the Harmony Remote to learn more than one command at a time
a. select one or more commands by clicking on the check box next to the command(s) you want to learn and then
b. click on the Learn Selected Commands button
c. Proceed to Step 5

You want the Harmony Remote to learn a new command, which is not listed in the software:
a. Scroll down to the button of the page
b. In the Learn a New Command box click on the text MyNewCommand
c. enter the name of the command you would like to teach.
d. Click on the (Learn New Command) button
e. Proceed to Step 5

5. Follow the onscreen directions for learning commands, plugging in your Harmony remote when asked and lining up your original remote to the Harmony as illustrated on the screen.
6. When a command is successfully learned, a check mark will appear next to it. If learning more than one command, the software will then prompt you to learn the next command.
7. The commands that were learned should now be identified as from "Your original remote" and highlighted in turquoise.
8. When you have finished teaching the commands, click Done button to save your changes
9. Click on the Update Remote button to update your remote

If this does not work, try :

To teach commands for your Device that did not work properly in normal mode:

1. Click the Devices button on your home page.
2. Select the Device you wish to learn commands to.
3. Select Learn Infrared Commands.
4. Click Custom. The page will reload.
5. Select the boxes for commands you would like to teach, and click Learn Selected as Raw.

NOTE: When teaching each command, press the button on the original remote for as long as required to control the device. The commands will be learned with the exact format that is sent by the original remote.

If you have any trouble teaching the commands in RAW, complete the following steps:

1. Verify you are pointing the original remote at bottom end of your remote, and are holding the remotes 2-4 inches apart.
2. Minimize the amount of light that could interfere with the learning process by covering the distance between the remotes. Block out sunlight, or turn off the lights.
3. Check that you have installed new batteries in the original remote you are trying to use to learn commands. If the batteries are low, the signal coming from your original remote may be too weak for the remote to detect.
4. Be sure to hold down the button on the original remote for at least 1-2 seconds, otherwise the signal may be too short for the remote to process.
5. If you continue to have trouble teaching the commands, start with the remotes 2 inches apart. Then try again with, slightly increasing the distance each time (2.5 inches, 3 inches, etc).
6. Vary the angle at which the original remote is pointing at the bottom of the remote.
7. Ensure the device's original remote is sending infrared (IR) commands.

NOTE: The original remote is sending RF or UHF commands from the original remote if it will control the device from another room, through a wall).

Harmony One remote won't input channels very well

Most DirecTV receivers are able to be controlled with IR (infrared) or RF (Radio Frequency) signals. DirecTV receivers are usually set to be controlled by RF.

To control a DirecTV PVR / Satellite, it needs to be set to respond to an IR Remote:
1. On the original DirecTV remote press the Menu button
2. From the Menu press Select on Settings
3. Select Remote from the left menu
4. Press Select on the IR/RF Setup button
5. Use the Up or Down arrows to change from RF to IR
6. Press Select to save

Note: Some models of DirecTV may have different steps to enable IR. You may need to refer to your user manual

Harmony Remotes only control IR signals. so this is not the issue. The Harmony Remote should control the tv. the original remotr needs to be tested for IR or RF.

The device we are working on that is not being controlled by the Harmony Remote could be operating on RF (Radio Frequency) signals. Harmony Remote can only control the devices that operate on IR (Infrared) signals. Most devices that work on RF signals can be changed to operate on IR signals, and this usually could be done by changing the remote control command mode to IR from RF.
Please follow the steps listed below to test to see if the device is being operated on RF or IR signal:
1- We need to use the original remote for that device to complete this task
2- Using your hand or a thick and wide object (wall, pillow, book...), cover the top part of the original remote. In other words block the direct positioning between the original remote and the device.
3- After you cover the top part of the original remote (or used an alternate way to block the direct communication of the original remote and the device), try pressing the buttons on the original remote to see if it can still send commands that can be received by the original remote. You can try powering on/off your device using the original remote when the original remote is being blocked by your hand or another object.
4- If you still can control the device using the original remote without a point of sight, your device is being operated on RF signals. If you cannot control the device without a point of sight, then it is IR operated.
5- If the device is RF operated, please change the command receiving mode to IR rather than RF and test the Harmony Remote.
6- If the device is IR operated, please contact us again by replying to this email and let us know if none of the commands or some certain commands are not working for that device.

You can usually find the information on how to switch the device to be operated on IR signals rather than RF signals, through the user manual for your device, or by contacting technical support of the manufacturer for that device, or even sometimes reaching the information simply by doing a basic research over the internet.

URC-9910 remote: The RF part for this remote stopped working.

I have the same remote as yours and occasionally the RF remote is not working due the interference signal from outside or next door at certain hours.
My suggestions:
(1) To relocate the receiver and reposition the anntena for better reception of the RF signal from the remote unit.
(2) Replaced the battery.

Hope these help!
