Question about EliteGroup ECS AMD690GM-M2 Socket AM2 Motherboard

1 Answer

Black screen and beeping.

When I turn the power on all of the fans start spinning. I also hear beeping. The beeps are about three seconds apart. And I can't even get to the BIOS. I'm using the on board graphics I have my monitor plugged in and I get no picture at all.

tried the battery and it didn't work. i'm going to borrow my friend's PCI-E graphics card tomorrow and see if that's it.

i did a little research and found out that the beeping my be because the memory is not compatible with my motherboard. is that possible?

i just switched out my old ram for 2 gigs (2x1) of patriot ram and the beeping stopped. but still no picture.

Compaq presario v6101uswont boot not even start up screen

When you plug in the power cord is there any lightswhatsoever on the laptop, where the plug goes in or on the AC Adapter of thepower cord?

When you press the power button do you hear fans running, hard drive spinning, lights on the computer, hear any beeps or lights constantly blinking, hear theDvD/CD drive click and the light on the drawer of the DvD/CD turn on for asecond or two? If so the laptop is trying to boot or may have booted, butthe screen is not showing for some reason.

Beep tones and blinking lights tells the technicians what is going on with thelaptop and why it is not booting. Most times it's a motherboard issuewhen you hear beeps or blinking lights continuous.

Maybe you have a Static Charge Buildup. Remove the Power Cord, Remove theBattery, then Press and Hold the power button for 30seconds. After 30 seconds plug the power cord back in (leave the batteryout) and hit the power button to see if it boots. If it does, you can putthe battery back in and let it charge.

When i turn the power on, 3 beeps play, the fan runs and the power light comes on, but nothing else

Hearing ONE beep is normal, and a signal that the computer hardware is OK.

Hearing THREE beeps is a signal that something is wrong:
* burnt-out CPU,
* one of the fans is not spinning (clogged?) or spinning too slowly (about to seize-up),
* one of the RAM chips is defective
* the video-card is not working

If there is more than one RAM stick, remove all but one stick, and start it up, to see if it starts.

Check that the fans are spinning freely.

My compaq laptop F500 has black screen when power on

That sounds like a power supply problem. That would be the first thing I would check. If it was the processor, you would have heard a long beeping sound or if it was the memory you would hear about three 'annoying beeps'. The main reason you indicated there is no display on the screen and that the fan spins for a few seconds then shuts off, would hint that power is not going to the mother board long enough to spin the processor or cooling fan. Hope this helps :)

Acer aspire blue screen appeared went off now laptop starts up for few seconds then turns off again, but always a black screen hear the fan a few seconds but nothing

Try this:
  • check to make sure the fan is actually spinning and that there is no debri (dust bunnies) causing it to overheat.
  • Make sure there is nothing preventing airflow, you may need to tilt the back up to allow more airflow
Is there any display at all? Do you see a BIOS splash screen? Do you hear a beep shortly after powering on?

--if you have a splash screen, go into BIOS setup by pressing a button (del,F1,F10...whatever) then set it factory defaults and save changes

--also try removing anything that's detachable (USB, cards, dvd-rom, RAM, Battery...) Hold down the power button for 20 secs then plug in only the A/C and see if you get a bios screen

Hope this helps

Computer beeps and fails to start

If there was recent hardware added to it or RAM then try removing it and boot up. You can try resetting the RAM. You can also check all cables and power within the case to make sure everything is connected properly. Listen for the fan on the PC, if the fan doesn't start up then it could be an overheated mother board. Beeps can mean a number of different things. If there's no error on the screen then it probably isn't getting further then the BIOS. I hope that helps.
