Router password reset

I've just accessed my admin settings for a Dynamode router BR 6004W G2M in order to change the channel from 1 to 13 to see if it reduces WIFI dropout to my ipod touch.
When I accessed the admin, the remember password box was ticked and I got straight in.

The password box is no longer ticked and I cannot remember the password. How do I reset it?

The following procedure(for most of routers) restores the factory default settings(OBS you will loose all the changes you have done to the router!) and resets the factory default: Username: "admin" and Password: "admin" or "password" (not sure which because it is mensioned differetly in two places!) too!

Try finding a hole in the back or under the router (may be marked RESET) . disconnect from the wall outlet(adapter) wait 5 minuts, use a paperclip to push the hidden reset button inside the RESET hole. while holding down the RESET button connect the adapter then release the RESET button.

The only way around this is to do a hard reset. This will put it back to factory defaults and you will loose all your settings and will have to set it back up from scratch like a new router. Here is how you reset it.

Hard Reset

Take a PIN and hold down the "Reset" button on the back of the router,
HOLD IT until the CPU light goes out, then comes back on (Approx. 10 - 15 seconds), then release.
All the L.E.D’s should go OFF, then come back ON.
Leave the Router to stand for a few minutes, for the reset to take effect.

Can't get a link when trying to turn a Netgear router WGR614v8 into access point with a xfinity SMCD3GNV as the host router.

Log in to your NETGEAR router by browsing to
http://www.routerlogin.net/ or http://www.routerlogin.com./
Enter the username (admin) and password. By default, the password is password or 1234 unless it has already been changed.
If you cannot log into your router:
Unfortunately, there is no way to recover a lost or forgotten password from a router or access point; you will need to reset the device to factory defaults.
however, once the device is reset to factory defaults, you can use the default username ("admin") and password (either "password" or "1234" depending on your router) to reconfigure your router settings.
If it is not visible, you can change your wireless passphrase; however, changing the passphrase will cause you to lose your wireless connection.
Connect your computer to the router with an Ethernet cable before entering a new passphrase into the text box and Clicking Apply.
If there is a small hole in the front or back of the router push a hair pin in to reset to factory settings.

I forgot my password to my d-link dir-600 product. password to access the wifi to my laptop. can help me about this.

In order to get your router back to the original settings, you must push in the reset button (usually on the back of the router) for somewhere between 10 and 30 seconds depending on the router. You may need a pin or something small to push in the button, because it can be recessed. Once you have reset the router, the username and password will be changed to the defaults, admin and password, respectively. One thing you must remember is that resetting the router will change all of the router settings back to the factory settings. This means you will lose all of the changes you made since you got the router. Make sure to write down any things you've changed, so you can change them back after the reset. Also, I recommend updating to the latest firmware after the reset.

How do I secure my Dynamode BR 6004 WG1 Iam a

To secure your wireless network from unauthorized access, you need to at least configure the wireless router with encryption, and the SSID, and change the router's default login password.
Please follow these instructions :-

To connect to your wireless router, it needs the router’s wireless settings configured and also needs the wireless cards in all the laptops and or computers to be configured with the router’s wireless settings. Then the laptops and desktop computers can communicate with your wireless router.

To set-up and secure the wireless router from unauthorized access, follow these steps: -
1. Connect the wireless router to your computer with a LAN cable.
2. Start your browser and enter the router's configuration URL IP address.
3. Enter the router setup, login and password
4. Change the admin password
5. Go to the wireless settings and change the default SSID and turn off SSID broadcast.
6. Setup encryption key the strongest is WPA2 (if not then WPA). The encryption key can be easily set up using a passphrase (it can be an alpha numeric phrase or words).
7. For further security measures - turn on MAC address filtering and enter the MAC address of the wireless cards on the computer/s you want to connect to this wireless router.
8. Record the settings you have made and keep it in a safe place and Save the settings.
9. Configure the wireless cards on the computer/s with the SSID and encryption settings of the router.
10. Remove the LAN cable between the router and the computer then the computers should be able to connect to the router wirelessly.
To access the Internet you need to connect the DSL or cable modem to the WAN (Internet) port on the wireless router.

I recently bought a Dell laptop that has B+G wireless networking. Should my 2300 router work with this computer? I am having trouble getting a signal to my work area.

yes you can work with it.

If you face problem in gettings signal strength then you need to change frequency channel in router.
for that access your router with following link
If it is not in netwrok then connect your router to computer with ethernet cable.
Then access thisd link http://192.168.1.1
or
http://192.168.0.1
type user name as "admin" and password as."admin" or blank or "password"

then if you cannot access it then you have to reset your router to factory defauls settings.
For reset you have to press RESET button for 10 seconds it is in back side of router .

then access with above link
then go to wi fi and change channel type to 4 or 6 or 11 try 1 by 1 then save settings in router then restart bot computer and router to then check signal strength set that channel which give you high signal.

SSID Password

Hi...I am not sure if you need the SSID or the network key? The SSID is the network name, the one you see displayed in 'Available wireless networks'. The network key (also called passphrase, authentication key, PSK etc) is the one Windows asks for to connect to a secure network.

If you need the network key/passphrase:

1. Login to your router, by typing http://192.168.1.1 into a web browser (or whichever IP address is correct for your router).

2. You should see a popup box, requesting your username and password. If you have not changed these, they are username: admin and password: admin - otherwise please enter the username and password you have set.

3.If successful, you should now see your router user interface.
Go to Advanced > Wireless Security. If you are using WPA encryption, the network key (password) you need should be displayed under PSK string.
(Details taken from Dynamode UK website).

Hope this helps you, but please come back to Fixya if you need further help.
