N2PUCB 2.0

My N2PUCB USB cardbus will only connect hard drives. When I plug a mouse, keyboard or iPod into it nothing happens. I am using a mac powerbook G4 with OS X. I downloaded the driver from nexxtech but when i attempt to install it errors occur, installation fails and the nexxtech wizard offers no help or reason why it fails. I read that for the USB 1.1 driver you may need to change the .PKG to .pkg, i tried that and get the same results. Like I said, my hard drives connect perfectly, so the card is not faulty, I can't get it to connect anything else like usual. Am I the only person with this problem? What in the world can I do?
