Question about Eclipse Premium 34230 Car Audio Amplifier

My amp turns on but once you turn the volume up it shuts off

I've had the same setup for more than 2 years. My 34230 pushing my 2 12" Fosgate HE2's. They are dual 4ohm voice coil subs but only one coil on each is hooked up. Never had a problem till today. The amp powers up when you turn the key on and bass sounds, but when you turn it up the amp powers off until you turn the key off then on again. I removed one of the RCA's from the inputs on the amp and tried it and it works fine running 1 channel on each speaker. As soon as both channels are being used it shuts off. I checked with a 12v tester and I have power/ground/remote and the amp still stays off and the power light is not lit. Any ideas? Thanks ~Jason

What is happening is an overload situation. If you can use either left or right (white or red) RCA inputs but not both, then the amp is overloading and getting hot internally and probably getting ready to die. You'll need someone to fix the final drivers in the amp.
Hope this helps, and please rate my advice.
Thank you, and good luck!!

Rockford Punch HE2 wiring question.

if your sub will handle it, bridging it will give you more power. The best thing to do is to find out how much power the amp puts out ( RMS ) and if it is in your power handling range bridge it. It sounds better and gives you a harder punch because of more power.

Rockford fosgate punch 700s gets very hot

Disconnect the speaker wires from speaker terminals on the amp and turn the amp on (turn the head unit on). Set the volume to zero on the head unit.

Does the amp get hot?

If it does, either the bias is set to high or the amp has other problems. If it does not, you may have the speakers wired to the wrong ohm load.

I recently baught the rockford fosgate P2's and i got the KAC9103 ampliyfer. and i had best buy install em both and they ran the wires too. the problem is when i crank the volume on the deck to...

It's possible that the installer cheated on wiring gauge, using wire too light for the 12v side causing the voltage to be dropped to a level the Fosgate won't tolerate and causing it to shut down.
If you have a multimeter, monitor the supply voltage at the amplifier while a friend turns the volume up. If you see a significant decrease in the 12 volts, the wire feeding the amp is too light.

Subs

Hi,

First of all you need to check if your amp can support this type of speaker setup? If you are simply going to wire 2 subs up to the amp (assuming a 2 channel amp) it's pretty simple. Just connect the + & - cables to one channel of the amp & the other ends of the cable to the sub, making sure that they are the correct polarity on both sides (ie speaker & on the amp).
If on the other hand you want to 'daisy chain' the subs onto one channel of the amp (this effectively drops the load down to half that of the speakers (usually 2 Ohm)), then you do as the name suggests. Simple connect one speaker cable to the amps channel 1 + ve output to subs_1 +ve input. Then from sub_1 -ve connector to subs_2 +ve. This leaves you with only 1 more to connect sub_2 -ve back to amp channel 1 -ve.

NOTE: make sure that your amp can support this first! If it can't then it's will auto switch off in most cases but can also damage the amp if there is no fail safe circuit built in.
