Question about Toshiba TLP S30 Multimedia Projector

3 Answers

Image The projector has a brand new bulb. When turned on it starts up fine and displays a crisp and clear start up page. But a yellowish tint seems to overlay the image displayed---except around the edges. The picture is perfect around the edges. I wonder if the yellow tint in the center may be signs of a burned panel or whatever lens is positioned next to the bulb. Anyway, it's too bad because otherwise, as I said, the picture image is crisp and bright even the within the yellowish part. I would appreciate any thoughts on this. Gilbert

The Toshiba TLP S30 has a brand new bulb just installed. It starts up fine and displays a bright and crisp image. However, a yellowish tint overlays the image. Yet around the edges, the image color is perfect. It almost looks as though a panel or lens next to the bulb was burned causing the yellowish tint almost to the edges.

I would appreciate any thoughts you might have on this.

Tried adjusting the color, contrast, etc. but the yellowish tint is still visible.

Also went through the steps for installing the new bulb and did not notice any obstructions near the lens area. The glass part that fits next to the lamp looks clean and clear. Any other ideas? Thanks. Gilbert

Hi,

try adjusting the color first then tint. Sometimes if it is in a smoky enviorment it can cause a yellowish circle in middle of picture if it is a LCD. If it is a DLP, then it could just be the lamp going bad. I have seen them go bad as little as 50 hrs. This is why they give a 90 day warranty on most lamps. Let me know how this pans out..

Goodluck,
please don't forget to rate me as fixya..

Why does my picture appear yellowish on the screen? I haven't changed the bulb in at least 2 years. Does this make a difference?

Projector displaying yellow tint in center of screen.

The yellow tint is probably coming from the lens. It could be that the glass is tempered or possibly just needs to be cleaned.

the colorwheel is collapsing and needs replacing. it's under a metal brace between the colorwheel and the lens. it's a 4-sided mirror tube that is glued together, and the glue wears out after a while.

Display has a green tint to it tho it looks fine on the laptop.

A tinted image (whether green or another color) is almost always a symptom of a bad or damaged cable - or a loose cable connection. In your case, you'll likely need a new M1 to VGA cable (Part# SP-DVI-A-R).

Assuming that you've made sure that the cable connections are solid at both ends, there is a simple test to verify that this is a cable issue and not a costly projector issue. While the image is tinted green, open the menu. If the menu colors appear fine while the rest of the image is still tinted green it's the cable.

I have the same issue, I have figured out its a fan issue, my fan must have went out. After about ten minutes the bulb will get too hot and the picture will start to turn a way off tint color. I put a fan on my projector and after about 40 min. the picture returned to the appropriate color. I am still investigation on how to get and replace the fan.

I have the same problem as philvo. I was watching, the projector was operating normally, I heard a snap, there was a flash of light behind me I believe, and my Mitsubishi XD300U projector went to a black and white picture. That is all it will show now. All lights show normal operation. I would like to know if it is worth getting repaired. Does anyone have any ideas?

When the image turns pink, we find that replacing the cable between the projector and the lap top fixes the problem.
