My 2006 saturn ion dome light goes on by itself and alarm goes off by itself. started happening after a hard rain and it drains my battery. what is causing this and how can i fix it?
Re: 2006 saturn ion dome light goes on by itself and
When this happened to mine it ended up being a bad door switch. The alarm, dome/map lights and electric door locks are all connected to the door switches. It cost $65 for diagnosis, parts and labor at Saturn of South Burlington VT

The battery in your remote m may be going bad. Don't know why this happens but it does. That little battery can give you, your car and your neighbors a real headache. Hope this is the fix.
you may have a very sensitive alarm...or maybe there is a maufunction...I reccomend getting it inspected or at least looked at.----------------------------------------------------------------------- Original X-100+car key programmer
My daughter had same problem--Saturn dealership replaced the left and right door light switch--these are tied into the antitheft system--Service tech said this is common problem .
Switches are available from autoparts stores and easy to replace-
The car might be "thinking" that one of the doors is ajar, Check the spring switches in all the door frames to make sure that they are hooked properly, and doing their job. One way to do it is ( if the dome happens to be off) to close and open each door several times, to see if the bad switch stays open and turns the light on, even with the door closed
Even if the battery is low or has weak connections, there is enough power for accessories but not enough to turn the motor over. A bad solenoid will also cause this
it sounds like you are having a problem with the ecm which is the electronic control module which is the BRAIN of your entire car. Also when this happens everything goes haywire as if the car is acting retarded because the ecm is not receiving the proper codes on how to perform and remember the ecm is a computer that could have corrosion or rust on the connection points. check this ok that might help.
may be the alternator needs to be changed. when it goes then your car runs off the battery power. then the battery drains. will have enough juice to start again but it will happen again
