Question about Standard (CRT) Televisions

Rolling picture Philips Matchline 32pw9523/25

I don't have the TV remote but have the VCR remote with TV options. So can't access the set-up menu. I borrowed the remote of a bigger model but the TV does not respond.
The picture rolls on all channels and all auxiliary connections.
I can see a panel on the side but I can't open it.

The pip got stuck using a universal remote..i cannot clear it no matter what button I use

If you can access the Menu options with your present universal remote, get into it, and surf thorugh picture adjustment and PIP adjustment screen, and set the PIP option to OFF. If you can't access the Menu option with your present remote control, there is no other way to do this without its original remote control.

Have bought a second hand philips 28pw6506, it has no remote control. Do you know how to change the aspect ratio or size of picture on screen? Have looked through the menus with the button on top of the...

Hello
To change its picture aspect ratio, you have to go to its menu. As you haven't its remote control there is an option for that, mentioned in its user manual. I hereby send it to you. Do the same and access the aspect ratio.

The television set has 4 keys which are located

on the front or the top of the set depending
on the model.

The VOLUME - + (- Vol +) keys are used to

adjust sound levels.The PROGRAM - + (- P +)

keys are used to select the required programmes.

To access the menus, simultaneously hold down

the VOL- and VOL+ keys.The PROGRAM - +

keys may then be used to select an adjustment

and the - VOL+ keys to make that adjustment.

To exit from the menus, hold down the 2 VOL-

and VOL+ keys.

Note: when the Child Lock function is activated,
these keys are unavailable
OK.

No control and the picture is too dark

Not sure what you mean by no control?

Brightness settings on any TV made since the early to mid 90's (besides tiny cheap B&W TVs) will have the settings in an on-screen menu. Sometimes the menu is accessible through buttons on the TV itself, but always accessible through the remote control. If your TV does not have the ability to get to the settings menu from the TV controls itself, you will need the original (or compatible) remote control for the set, there is no other option.

It could also be that the set is just dying; it's an older set, and certainly would be a possibility.

Zenith advanced system 3, can't access video 1 or 2

I just got the TV for free with no remote and had the same problem.  The solution I found is to connect two devices that are feeding live signal (a VCR, DVD player, or game console) to the RCA connector input on the back of TV for Video 1 and Video 2.  I then used the first menu option which I accessed by using the Menu key on the front of the TV and Adjust and Select buttons to scan for channels and detect the band for the reciever to use.  After doing this I changed the setting away from "Fixed" (I forget which setting) and turned the TV on and off.  I then found that by pressing Menu several times I would get new menus.  Before I had done that scan with more devices attached to the other ports I didn't get any other menus.  I also discovered that depending on which devices I had connected I would get a Picture in Picture feature.  It would have its own menu to select its source, but I would lose that feature if I changed the device topography of my setup.
