Problem getting sound from Sub

Hi, I have a Sony STR-DE635 receiver I have4 speakers currently running fine. However I just got the Jensen JPS12 sub , and when I plug in my sub to receiver I am still not getting any bass? I used subwoofer cable from the line in (sub) to audio out on my receiver.
