Whirlpool Refridgerator + ET1FTTXKQ02 - Water leakage!

All, I own a whirlpool refrigferator (4 yrs) that has recently been giving us problems. Any suggestions or troubleshooting recommendations would be greatly appreciated. My refrigerator is a top-bottom model with inside water dispensor and icemaker. We noticed it had been making loud noises lately. Almost like knocking clicking sounds coming from inside. Then one evening, we noticed lots of water that had spilled into the inside and outside of the fridge. Fridge appeared to be off. We immediately thought it was the compressor and thought we would have to purchase a new one. Out fridge in only 4 yrs old and were quite upset. However, we plugged fridge back in but turned off the water line and it has been working perfectly with great cooling with no issuse. (2 days) That is until yesterday when we turned the water source back on. At first it worked just fine. Then last night, around 6 hrs after turning water back on, I heard the sound of water being dispensed to the icemaker followed by the sound of water dripping. I immediately went to the fridge and saw water being leaked into the inside of the fridge. I need suggestions and possible cause to help fix the problem. Does it sound like compressor issue or clogged drainage, line issues. Please help! Alex We just recently moved and we have the same model refrigerator which has a leak also. It seems to be coming from the top center section of the refrigerator compartment and the ice maker and the water dispenser seem to work properly. Every couple of days there will be water on the shelves and sometimes gets to the crisper drawer. I'd like to know how to remedy the leak.

    Here is another solution:

inside of freezer, take back cover out and thaw the ice with hair dryer or hot water. don't use any sharp tools. When thawed make sure water drains through defrost drain.

This may not be the problem now but by the sound of the malfunctioning unit, it could be in the future. The start device on some models of refridgerator for maytag and whirlpool have been recalled. If your appliance was manufactured in the last 5-10 years you may be having an issue with this component. Mine recently caught on fire at this device that is located near the compressor. WAS IT LEAKING FROM INSIDE THE FREEZER OR FROM BOTTOM OF FRIDGE? ONCE IN A WHILE YOU NEED TO TAKE OUT THE ICE BIN AND DUMP ICE OUT AND CLEAN IT. HOW CAN THE ICE MACHINE OVERFLOW WITH ICE WHEN THE ICE IN THE TRAY WON'T BUDGE? NEED CLARIFICATION. SOUNDS LIKE YOU EITHER HAVE A BAD ICE MAKER MODULE OR THE SOLENOID FOR THE ICE ON THE WATER VALVE IS BAD.

Whirlpoor Refridgerator 10-12 yrs old

I had a whirlpool fridge that did the exact same thing. Sometimes it was loud enough to wake me up at night! It is the compressor shutting down. I had it for several years untill I purchased a larger one, and then gave it to a girlfriend at least a year ago. Its still working good today. So if you can tollerate it, just live with it. Otherwise change the compressor.
