Question about D-Link 802.11g Wireless Router WBR-1310 (WBR1310)

1 Answer

No Broadcast I've had the WBR 1310 which has worked fine for over a year when someone took it apart to relocate it. After that it was not working at all, and I was able to play around with the connections and the wireless internet would work for about 5 minutes at a time then go out for 20 or 30 minutes. I tried to some things like the reset button and none of that helped. It actually does not work whatsoever now. To the left of the number LEDs there is a icon for broadcoast, which has remained off. The power the up pointing arrow and the triangle type icon are all lit up, but for whatever reason I can't get this thing to broadcoast. Using internet with a direct ethernet cable has never had any problems, only the wireless.

theres a couple of version of this router http://www.dlink.com/products/default.aspx?pid=WBR-1310&tab=3 I'm using the manual from here http://www.dlink.com/products/?tab=3&pid=WBR-1310&rev=WBR-1310
on a working PC download and install this program http://www.xirrus.com/library/wifitools.php this will detect all the wireless signals being broadcast - see if the router is actually broadcasting - if it is detected on your PC then it may be that 1) the firewall is blocking access or 2) the security code is entered wrong - -log into the router and remove the wireless security and see if you can now detect

Its frustrating when things go bad just past the warranty. However there is one thing you can try first.Try to find an update for the router's firmware. Then go into the router's administration, click on update firmware and browse for the firmware file you have downloaded. This will update the firmware and automatically restart the router. See if it fixes the issue. If it does not I'm afraid that you will have to get a new router.

Hopefully it works,
Sai.

if you are wireless, after a reset you need to connect with the router using an RJ45 lan connector lead. Reboot your notebook, while connect to router and then type in the default address for the set up page normally 192.168.0.1
