Question about Sony Ericsson Walkman® W880i Cellular Phone

1 Answer

Sim Card I have brought a new mobile phone from Orange. Because it was an upgrade, i was given a new sim card. I requested to keep my number. They said that was no problem and told me that i should switch to the new sim card 2 hours after i had brought it. when i got home i started it up and a text message said 'sim update'. I ignored it because it was only one hour after purchase. It got to 1:30pm which was the required time, so i tried the new sim card. I tried to send an sms message but its unavailable at the menu. And i was unable to access internet either. I then raced back to the Orange shop and the staff told me it could be up to 24 hours until the new sim was activated. They said to keep swiching it on and off every hour until i got the text message. I have tried sending messages to my phone but they are not sening. Its been 28 hours sinch purchase and my sim still doesnt help. Any advice will be extremely helpful, Thanks

I misplace my sim pack and i entered wrong pin code on my sim card so i need my puk number.my number is 08165526477. i would be very greatful if my request is favourable considered. thanks.

PUK stands for Personal Unblocking Key. This is a uniqueeight-digit code specific to your SIM card. This is required when the PINnumber to unlock your mobile phone is entered incorrectly 3 times. You are thengiven 10 attempts to enter your PUK code. If an incorrect PUK code is enteredafter the 10th attempt, you will block your SIM card permanently and willrequire a new SIM card from your mobile phone provider.
PUK codes can be obtained through the following ways -The PUK code is in your SIM card documentation Starter Pack.If you do not have this then -Please contact your phone service provider.
Your cell phone service provider can give you the PUK code once you give themyour account details and they have confirmed your identity. For details to obtain the PUK code for the SIM card, pleaseclick on this link and follow my instructions.

I havent used my mobile for some time nad now it seems to be cut off what do i need to do

you either need to contact your service provider and ask them to reconnect your number (specific to the SIM card installed) or get a new SIM card and install it in your handset.
The first option may incur a reconnection charge from your service provider (depending on network and location i.e: country)
The second option will likely mean a fee for the SIM card and most definately a new number to go with it.
Please note, this advice is given according to UK mobile networks and there are a couple of service providers who will supply SIM cards free of charge-namely O2 and Orange.

I have my orange sim card with me and will like to retrieve my phonebook page but need my orange puk code. what do I do?

Hi the PUK code is the security code for the sim card and not any code to do with the phone, all you need to do to get the PUK code is call your service provider.
your service provider wont charge for giving you the code as the code belongs to you, all you need to tell them is your phone number or if you dont know that then the number printed on the sim card, they will then provide you with the 10digit PUK code for free over the phone.
this will then allow you to access the sim card.

The only place you can get the PUK code from is your service provider as their is no where else that keeps these codes, if you still have the card the sim card was attatched to then it will be written on their but if you no longer have this then the only way your going to get the code is by calling your service provider, they wont charge you for this as the code belongs to you,

you do have another option open to you though, if you dont need that sim card then you can go out and get another sim card and when you get given a new sim card you will get given the unique PUK code it will be written on the card the sim card is attatched to.

let me know if you need further assistance ok.

plz rate this solution as i have a whole page of unrated posts, thanks

I have an old Nokia 6310 on the UK Orange network, I now live in Spain and have bought a sim card on the Spanish orange network, have entered the card and the pin number and now it says `Telefono...

Hi,the message simply means your nokia 6310 only recognizes the UK orange sim card and restricts other sim card which implies that you need the unlock code for your nokia 6310.
Here is my solution;
1,Copy out the IMEI number of your phone behind the battery slot in the phone, because you will need it.

2.Call the customer care services of the UK orange network on this number;+4407973100150,

3,Explain the situation to them and request for the unlock code of your nokia 6310,which will be given to you for free.

Have a nice day as you solve this problem

Take care

Sim card rejected

Try inserting the sim card in another phone. If it still doesn't work, the problem could really be with the sim card. Go to your service provider, and request for your sim card number transfered to another sim card. That is if you wanna keep the same number. You could request for another sim card if you'd like. Call your service provider.

SIM Cards and Unlocking your Phone What is a SIM?

Subscriber Identity Module (SIM): A smart card containing the telephone number of the customer, encoded network identification details such as: Call Forwarding, Caller ID, etc., the PIN, and other user data such as the phone book. T-Mobile customers can move their SIM card from any T-Mobile branded phone to any other T-Mobile branded phone without the need to contact Customer Service to activate the new phone. Your rate plan and phone number will follow your SIM to the new phone.

SIM Error Messages:

  • Invalid SIM: This error means that the SIM you have inserted into your phone is either inactive or is not compatible with our service. You may purchase a new SIM card from a T-Mobile retail location. Locate a T-Mobile retail store near you.
  • Insert SIM: Your SIM is either not inserted in your phone or is inserted improperly. Please remove and re-insert your SIM card. If you continue to receive this error message, your SIM card or phone may be defective. You may take your phone and SIM to a T-Mobile retail store for further assistance and a free SIM card replacement if necessary. Locate a T-Mobile retail store near you.
  • Unregistered SIM: This error may occur if your SIM card is not fully activated or if the SIM card registered to your account is different than the SIM you have in your phone. For assistance with this issue, please contact Customer Service.
  • SIM Not Ready: This error occurs when you have just powered your phone and is due to the phone not being fully initialized. Please wait a few moments before accessing your phonebook or placing a call.
  • OTA OK: This message is displayed when your phone receives a network update, phonebook download, or an Over-The-Air t-zones or Picture Messaging configuration. NOTE: These messages are free of charge and will not be billed to your account or pulled from any text message bucket.

SIM PIN:

A SIM PIN can be used to prevent access to your phone. When enabled, your phone will prompt you for the SIM PIN when the phone is powered on. Entering the wrong PIN will prevent you from making or receiving calls. SIM PINs are different from a Security Code that your phone may use to secure other phone functions. Please check your phone’s manual for further security details.

T-Mobile SIM PIN numbers are set to default values before purchase. If you change your SIM PIN, it is recommended that you keep record of the new PIN in a safe location. T-Mobile cannot retrieve a lost or forgotten SIM PINs.
  • SIM PIN1: 1234

SIM Unlock:

T-Mobile branded phones operating on the T-Mobile network may only use T-Mobile SIM cards. To use a T-Mobile branded phone on another wireless carrier's network with a non-T-Mobile SIM card, you must first request a "SIM Unlock" code from T-Mobile. Conversely, if you have a phone from another North American wireless carrier, you may need to request a "SIM Unlock" code from that carrier before being able to use a T-Mobile SIM card on the T-Mobile network.

SIM Unlock Requests:

T-Mobile customers must meet the following eligibility requirements before contacting Customer Service to request your SIM Unlock code.

The following restrictions apply to all account types:
  • T-Mobile can provide SIM Unlock Codes only for handsets sold by T-Mobile USA, with the exception of Danger Sidekick devices. T-Mobile can obtain SIM Unlock Codes for companies acquired by t-Mobile USA (VoiceStream, Aerial, Omnipoint, SOL, Digiph, PCS One, and Powertel).
  • SIM Unlock Codes will only be provided after your account has been active for 90 days. Only one unlock code may be provided per customer every 90 days.
  • No SIM Unlock Codes will be provided within the 14-Day Buyer's Remorse period. Customers who purchase phones in CA California or via Amazon.com are granted a 30-Day Buyer's Remorse Period.
  • SIM Unlock Codes are not always available from the Manufacturer. However, T-Mobile will make a dedicated effort to obtain the SIM Unlock code. Note: Other restrictions may apply depending on account type.
