I am very careful and cautious when cooking or cleaning on the range. However, the enamel has a residue from oil when frying. When I am cleaning the burners, the residue doesn't come off on one burner and is pealing the enamel on the other.
-   my range is 6 months old & I've had the cooking grates replaced 3 times. Two sets were made in China & 1 set made in Mexico. The enamel on the top appears to be either scratched or worn off after several uses. The repairman says the problem is with the cookware I'm using but I never had this problem with previous ranges.-   4mrd

-   cannot remove any of residue left around burners. Top is flat area should be easy to clean but isn't. Did not receive manual for stove. I would like one.-   Guest
psnowden this can happen. If I remember correctly GE is using a Hi Temp paint, not porclean, on this range. And if they are using porclean, it is a thin coating. With current ranges the cooking oil gets into the finish and runs the heat up causing the finish to lift. The is espically true with white. The gentlest clean will in time not stop this from happening. You can get some hi temp touch up paint to make it look better, however it will keep doing this, espically on the burners you use the most.
