Make sure u can open the casing well to expose the interior parts without causing any damage. Then by close look at the processor area , that is where the heat sink is located. Normally the dell dimension 2400 has a green channel shaped structure that acts as a passage for the air that enters in and out for cooling the heat sink. It has a locking parts that slides into the casing back by slight pressing to the back of the casing just behind the processor area, be so observant to notice the locking parts. then the fan is just fixed behind that green " channel like" and its fixed on the rear side of the casing,
i don't understand when u say it works fine but you need to remove old memory.... inside the PC, you will find the a green rectangle stuff near the processor fan. that is the pc memory. But if your referring the memory as a data, then the data is stored inside the hard drive. if you want to wipe all the data, u just simply format the hard drive. all the data will be gone. hope this will help you.
Hi, What happens?Does it hang on the loading page or does it restart itself before loading? If it hangs on the loading page, press CTRL,ALT and DEL.This boots the system. If it restarts itself, remove the hard disk and re-fix it again.Problem solved? Remove the CMOS battery and the hard disk and re-fix them again.Problem solved? If not,you may have to repair your operating system. This how you do it:-
Remove your hard disk and enslave[fix it as a secondary drive] it on another machine with a good operating system.
Start the machine.Accept to run unnix[using two drives]
The machine will automatically detect your hard disk's failure on the operating system and repair the damaged files.
On completion and after Windows opens, turn off the machine and remove your hard disk.
Fix the hard disk now on your machine and start it.
You know the power button in the front? If you open the cover to see the insides, there is the HD that is kind of covered by a metal slot (has like holes...). Well, the HD is right next to the power button in the front, but inside.... Here is a picture. The wires are attached to the HD. yup.
yes you should be able to play CD on the DVD reader.
Dimension 2400 have drive slide mounted on the side of the hard drive, cd drive and floppy. they are different for each device. you need the 2 side mount for the dvd. in order to mount them in the Dell.
the drive is inserted from the inside of the box toward the front. The front panel will prevent the device from pop out.
yes, 3 party DVD, CD drive will be shorter and fater that what Dell porvide, but it will work, al long as the opening is accessable.
get the HP DVD driver.
