Make sure your internet connection is good and you are able to sign into playstation network. Turn your playstation on and go directly to your network settings and click on
Internet Connection Test. If you
are getting a connection then you are ready to go.
Try this if you can get a ethernet cable to plug into your ps3 then you know that it is your wifi if this is the problem do what this guy said but also rest your modem plug the modem in first then the router and set up a new connection on the ps3. That will 90% be a way to fix the problem or MSG for more.
Your PS3 should have WiFi built in unless you bought he 20GB version back when it first came out, that is the only one that dosn't have WiFi. But you can still connect it the way you want. You can use any type of ethernet cable, straight through or crossover. You need to go into your network connections in the control panel, select wired and wireless connection at the same time and bridge them. That should do it if you wanna go that route but you would have to have the computer on anytime you wanted to connect your ps3 to the internet. The best bet I think would be to just use the WiFi built into the PS3
Make sure that when u go to internet connection settings to hit the scan icon and then it will show a list of wireless networks that are in range. Then click yours and click no for security. Hope this works
