PRO/100 Server Adapters and Novell 4.11

By Brad - usenet poster

We are also experiencing the same communication hang up problems reported by others on this forum.
Hardware: Compaq Proliant 5000 servers,  Intel PRO/100 Server Adapters (PBA 660114-006)
Software: Intranetware 4.11 w/IWSP5B patch kit.
Symptom:  Communication stops after running a couple of hours.  PACKETS SENT and RECEIVE of MONITOR LAN/WAN statistics stop incrementing.  Server is running but unable to communicate in or out.
We first tried the odi set from the diskette (NBI, MSM, ETHERTSM, E100SNW, VLAN).  Then tried 3.30 versions of NBI, MSM, ETHERTSM from IWSP5B. Then we downloaded the latest 100VDISK set, and installed all drivers and NLM's as a set.
We always experienced the same problems, and have been forced to replace the Intel NICS.
What is the definitive answer to which exact NBI, MSM, ETHERTSM, E100SNW, AFT, VLAN NLM's and drivers INTEL has certified with Novell patch kit IWSP5B?

Jeff,

I have not heard of a specific problem loading iwsp5b.

If you have HIMEM.SYS in your server CONFIG.SYS file, try
removing it before iwsp5b install.

IWSP5B updates you to 3.31 ODI specification.  For Intel(R)
PRO/100B and PRO/100+ adapters you can use our 3.31 spec drivers
 from 100pdisk.exe

 http://support.intel.com/suppo rt/network/adapter/100PDISK.HT M

For the PRO/100 adapter (also called PRO/100A adapter), replace
 your ethertsm.nlm Jeff,

You will also need 100acl32.exe.

We have a Pro/100 PCI busmaster and I cannot
get the iwsp5b patch to load. I keep getting
a "page fault exception" error.  According to
the novell web page someone reported a similar error
with another pci busmaster card and the fix was
to remove the card.  It also said it has something
to do with the odi drivers.  Are all pci or pci
busmaster cards not working with the new novell patch?
