Pgbk cartrige the pgbk ink cartrige does`t work properly even after a deep clean process of the printer, the ink path show`s cleary that there` is only this one that does not work and the result is that the black and white print end up unreadable, please help me....Eric etruite@hotmail.com I also have tried a new cartridge and deep cleaning but to no effegt. I cannot get the PGBK to work on my MP800. I have not yet gone to the extra expense of buying a genuine Canon cartridge though, so wondering if anyone has managed to find a solution to this before I do so. Thanks - Gillian

I have replaced my PGBK5 black cartridge with an original from Canon and then replaced my print head with an original from Canon. Still, my PGBK5 does not print. The other colors seem to be okay. When I attempt to do a Maintenance cleaning or deep cleaning on the PGBK5, it does not print.

The problem doesn't appear to be either the cartridge of the print head.

    Any suggestions?

Your printer works with the PGI-5BK cartridges, that are in fact just ink-tanks, the printhead being apart of the tanks, so if the cartridges are not empty, it cannot be because of them. It doesnt matter if you replace the cartridge, the problem is in the printhead.

If the problem occured just a while ago, you should consider that NOT PRINTING a long time (30 days) with a printer can lead to ink drying out in the printhead, clogging the nozzles. OK, now it comes: If you have some tehnical skills, you can remove the cartridge and desassembly the printhead (where the cartridge are in) and do the following:

Put a paper-tissue on a small plate (like a coffee-cup plate), then put some boiling water on it, just 2~3mm of water over the tissue.
Put the printhead with the nozzles part downside on the tissue, in the hot water.
Let it stay there in the water 30 min.
Put the cartridges back on the printhead (without installing it in the printer), rap it in an other clean tissue, than shake it strongy as if you want to force ink to get out trough the nozzles. Then clean gentle the nozzle part of the printhead on some sheets of tissue.
Get the cartridges again out of the printhead, install it in the printer, then install the cartridges again and run a few cleaning processes from the printers maintenance software.

It should work. If you dont have the tehnicall skills needed, Canon gotcha, or you can visit a local specialist to make all this for you, they usualy have better equipmens, as ultrasonic cleaners and special solvents that makes all this easyer.

Rate the solution if it helped you!

Thx.

Canon MX850. Print blank after ink changes. The black ink, PGBK-5, ran out so I replaced it with a cheap generic ink tank. But it didn't work, nothing print, not even color copy. I thought the ink is bad...

That is a common problem on all Canon printers, the purge assembly on the right where the printhead parks, has a pump inside and hoses that go to the filters and ink absorbers. When that unit goes out you need a replacement. A job best done in a shop. When the printhead is not cleaned and primed properly you get blank pages no matter how full the inks are.

I have problem with print-head for PGBK-5. On the test-print it does not appear as the pattern suppose to be (from the top) PGBK, C, C, M, M, Y, and BK. The pattern always appear C,C,M,M,Y and BK. I used...

if the clogging is worst then the deep head cleaning wont help.the head will need to be cleaned up manually and the waste ink pad in the printer should be cleaned too. this is covered normally in printer servicing.give special instructions to clean the head properly while you hand over the printer for servicing to any local tech. head cleaning and servicing will solve the issue
This will help. Thanks, please keep updated. please do rate the solution positively .thank you for using fixya

Canon PIXMA MP500 New Black ink cartridge produces no ink

If you don't use it very often the black could have dried in the printhead, and you will need a new one. Another possibility is that the purge unit is not cleaning and priming the printhead properly. I have seen several defective purge units. For 1 year it can be replaced under warranty, after that it is a $90.00 repair job in the shop.

My PGBK cartridge stopped printing. After doing the cleaning recommended through the properties help menu nothing changed. The test pattern doesn't show anything where the PGBK pattern should be - NOTHING!

After removing all the ink cartridges, I removed the print head and soaked it in propyl alcohol overnight. Then blew it out gently with an aerosol 'air duster' and washed it again in fresh propyl alcohol followed by another blowing out. After gently blotting the print heads on a soft tissue and replacing the print head plus cartridges, it necessitated two deep cleans to get the inks through and all now works again.
Make sure that you switch off the printer at its On/Off switch and not at the supply. I think I may have done this and left the heads not parked properly - hence the drying out!

it is very important to use a good quality ink, you can buy ink and toner for very cheap online and that would cause malfunctions in the printing process. visit sites like www.yahootoners.com to get the best quality ink at the best possible price.. you could also try cleaning your printer with a special type of cloth, here is a link to explain this in more deatails. http://www.ubergizmo.com/15/archives/2006/01/sticky_paper_for_printer_cleaning_by_elecom.html Tonerdude
