Sony kv-32LS35U is flashing the standby light red then green continously when switched on at wall socket. Fault occured after a popping noise when I switched it on in the evening. I always keep my set switched off at the wall socket and is plugged into an antisurge adapter. Has anyone got any ideas ??

These blinks [flashes] are fault indication (Error Codes). From the number of blinks occur at one time switch ON, you can get an idea about the faulty circuit section inside it. the horizontal output transistor is not recieving any voltage or it is burnt out and since it could have shote some resistors around the fbt transformer

Standby light blinking is a fault indication in Sony sets. You just count the exact number of blinks at one time, after switching on and off the set by its front panel power control switch, NOT BY THE REMOTE CONTROL HANSET. Just inform me the exact number of blinks occur there, after counting it at least four times. It will help me to reach the faulty stage, of sometimes to the exact fault location also. OK.

the number of red light flashes indicate where the fault lies...sony error codes are easy enough to find if you google the model with the number of flashes.hope this helps somewhat as you dont say how many blinks!!

ps.line output transformer failure rates are quite high on these sets,usually resulting in two red blinks-pause-two red blinks-pause etc...

If your set is the KV-24FS120, then the standby light should blink with a repeated pattern. Count the blinks and post that number here. It is a diagnostic code that will indicate the defective circuit. Having that information will allow us to suggest repair options.

If blinks continue without any pause, the main board is faulty.
