Question about Seiko SNA553 Alarm Chronograph

1 Answer

Set date Hi, I'm not able to set the date on my watch. Its either going ahead or back the actual date/ changes the date in afternoon. I came to know the change of date should be done at specific time period, but i'm not clear with that. It'll be so great if any one explains when to set/change the date. Thanks Kishore

Hello..this is not abig problem..just a sincronization one...ususlly I set the date around the 12 oclock in the night..the 0 hour..its easier...if you dont want to do this...well..then just count the hours ..remember you have the 24 hours /day..and remember the date is changing in the night around 12 oclock..
for instance...lets say..now you want to set the date..you count the hours until tonight at 12...you put it lets say...with 12 hours back..and wait the change in the midnight..
the easier way is to set it at midnight
oh...by the way..I saw watches which change the date around 2 oclock in the night..but this is a very small %...99% are set to do it at 12..
good luck

The calendar skipped ahead a day and I can't get it back to where it reads the correct date. Can you help?

Pull the stem out to the time set level. Turn the hand around until the date change. Now push the stem back in, pull to date set level and change to current date. Now the watch is at midnight for that current date. Note you can set to current time of day. The Watch will automatically change to correct date for next day at midnight as it should.

Date changes at mid day not at mid night.

Your watch is 12 hours out of step. The date changes ever second rotation of the hour hand.

If you advance the time 12 hours, the date will change at midnight.

You may have to re-set the date.

Guess Athletic--date is one day ahead-want to set one date back (5-9)

Hi, you have two options to do this:
  1. If you have a spare watch, pull the crown (winder) out to the full time adjust position. Check that the watch has stopped and leave it for 24 hours then adjust time and push crown back in again to restart the watch
  2. You will need to wind the date on through it's full 31 day cycle, as 99.9% of date display watches can only go forward, not backwards.
Hope this helps :)

Unscrew crown pullout 2 stepsturn hands around till the date changes .this will indicate to you it is midnight .turn ands around to right time.if you are setting this in the afternoon remember to go past the 12.When this is done push winder in 1 step and turn winder clockwise or anti cclocwise and this will let you set day or date. When you finish push winder back in and lock down.

Can't seem to get AM & PM set properly

Had Pulsar analog watch. Couldn't set either day or date properly due to being unable to signify AM or PM. When days changed one or the other would be 12 hours off.
""googled" adjusting Pulsar watches" and found site which explained how. You set day of week and date to previous day and date and then move watch time ahead until day and date are correct. Then set watch time. Seems to work.

Luminox 8200 series dive watch date set issue

This movement has a really quirky thing going on, its one of the few movements that you can actually turn the hor hand to set the day forwards or backwards...so on a day that goes from the 31 to the 1st it will advance fine, if there is no 31 for that month you can turn the hour hand 2 cycles and it will advance through the 34, continue to the 1st and set time...date can also be set by turning the hour hand backwards thru the dates...go ahead it doesnt 'hurt' the movement a bit, its made for this...so in oither wiords, when you get a new cell and the date is lets say the 15th and your watch says its the 2nd, just advance the hour hand through until you hit 15 and yoiu are good to go...hopefuly this help and didnt confuse much...good luck:)

Watch has correct day and date only 1/2 each day

The watch thinks at Noon it is really midnite, so you must scroll 12 hours ahead to repair this. There are usually 2 "clicks" on the stem of the watch when you pull it out, 1 will set time, 1 will set the day/date, be careful to pay close attention to which is happening when you pull out the stem, and setting should go well after that.

Date changes wrong time

thats because analog watches don't know the difference between AM/PM. First reset the time, moving the hour and minute hands another 12 hours will let you know exactly what mode its in (am/pm) first allowing you to set the date correctly.
