Re: Canot connect wireless
Hope this will give you an idea. Hope the wireless signal is fine when connecting to wireless router. But I pressumed there's no problem with your firewalls and basic installation procedures. And it gives me a hint that you can run using your fren wireless router. Now, check the routers name that exactly searched from Network Wireless Setup Wizard at control panel. If there's a need to configure internet connection at routers setup menu please do. Please refer also your assigned IP by your ISP, gateway, dns1 and dns2 if your connection type is Static. If it is dynamic or PPPOE and other connection type please ask assistance with your ISP for the entries.

Try: Clarify - the desktop is connected with an ether net cable? Is working? Install router software on desktop to manage router. Trying to connect desktop wirelessly? Wireless card installed? Radio activated? Network detected?
2. Verify wireless router name( on the computer) >>> ( on/off) 3.Note router name you are connecting to. 4.. Check the laptop do ipconfig /all to see current IP addresses. 5. Set the Desktop/laptop up in the router by WEP KEY or MAC address. 6.Note router name you are connecting to.
on the desktop you need to find the wireless icon and right click on it and view available wireless network, try to connect to the wireless network you have establised, SSID and the encryption wireless as well.
try to connect and checked the connection, you should be getting Online..
> Try changing and creating a new wireless network name.
> Try changing your security mode like WEP to WPA or vice versa..
> Try to update you drivers on your laptop then restart your computer before connecting to your network..
> Try assinging DNS ( Domain Name Server.) ask your router manufacture for the DNS that you could use.
> Make sure you typing the correct password for your wireless network..
> Make sure you disable WI-FI protected setup and on the router.
> Try to disable Anti-virus and Firewalls on you laptop.
try this plug up a line to laptop to modem to check to see if you can get connected if so then make sure you are on the same network and if so then call comcast to help you setup the laptop wireless settings in sound like the settings online doesn't have the laptop enable to accept the laptop
If you have the correct wireless security and the laptop wont connect wirelessly, the best thing that you can do here is to access the router setup page and change some wireless settings on the router like the wireless channel , I advice you set the wireless channel to 11 then after that try to connect your laptop again to the wireless network and by the way change also the SSID or wireless network name of the router....
Try changing the channel on the router. It would be better to isolate the problem first by trying to connect to other wireless networks on your laptop or having someone's laptop connect to your home wireless network.
If your Desktop computer is hardwired to the router and your laptop computers can't connect wirelessly, it could be your wireless computers are not synchronized with your router by not having the same settings as the router.
You can use the desktop machine to access your router web interface (setup page) to check the wireless settings such as SSID (Network Name-> Name of your wireless signal shown on your laptop computers), channel and security (wether it is WEP or WPA encryption)
The channel and network name will be automatically detected by the wireless computers. If you have an encryption/security on the router, you need to type the password on the wireless computers for them to authenticate.
As you ave the modem in bridge mode and also it works ine with wired connection just follow the instruction below for wireless
1.Login in to the router - > wireless settings
2.Configure your wireless using SSID and WEP and save settings
3.Laptop : Using windows wireless client configure the client using the same SSID ,WEP as configured in the router(view available wireless network in wireless properties)
(by default OEM wirelesss client takes over the wireless configuration in branded pc.to disable it and use windows wireless client..control panel ->administrative tools -> services -> enabl2 wireless zero configuration)
14.after all configuration shut the desktop, laptop, router, mdm and pwr them in seq..first modem and then router and then your desktop or laptop
