I have had the power supply checked out and that does not appear to be the problem. In standby, when you try to power on from remote or on-button on top, the screen flashes momentarily and the TV shuts down. I am so frustrated because they will not service it because I do not have an extended warranty. I paid $1500 for this TV and it only worked for 2.5 yrs. It's been sitting on my wall now doing nothing for almost another year.
The actual front of the TV says, SOVA and ShopNBC said that SOVA actually manufactures the inside of all LCD TVs. That's how they advertised it when I bought the thing. Now I'm really confused.

I had the TV picked up by a service guy yesterday. I will keep you posted as to what he said is wrong. Maybe it will be helpful for you later. I am very angry with ShopNBC since that's exactly how they sold the TV, saying SOVA mfg all the components. Most shoppers would have not idea of knowing that they were not being truthful.
Sounds like a bad panel to me and most likely not worth the cost in parts to fix. SOVA makes all LCD TV's? Thats funny because I wourd on most brands of TV"s and looking at the parts inside of a Samsung LCD what do you see? Samsung parts. Sony even buys LCD panel from Samsung. LG is another supplier of panels, both plasma and LCD. You got to love the truth in advertising.

I have the same tv and same problem, it turned out that it was a faulty inverter board(200$) and they said that 90% of dead LCDs had this fault. Hope this helps you.
