There is a solenoid that needs to move for the machine to drain. The solenoid is located at or very near the drain hose under the machine. It should have two wires going to it.

The solenoid won't work if...
There is something inside the pipe preventing the solenoid from moving OR
The wiring to the solenoid is broken/worn out, OR
The controller is not telling the solenoid to move OR
The solenoid is broken/worn out.

If you remove the drain hose from the machine you should be able to check if anything is blocking the valve.

Check for power (use a voltmeter but be careful it is probably 110Volts) to the solenoid when the machine should be draining. This verifies the controller and the wiring.

Check the resistance of the solenoid.

Many dishwashers have the wiring diagram in a little envelope under the machine. Take the panel off below the door and look around for any paper. Sometimes the resistance values for the solenoid (and other components) is listed on the wiring diagram.

Be careful and turn off the power when necessary.

I am replacing the door latch on my amana softsound II washing machine. how do I disconnect the wires from the old unit?

The door latch assemble has 2 switches on it. The terminals have to be wiggled and pulled off one ar a time. If they are difficult to get loose you can use a pair of needle nose pliers and a thin bladed screwdriver to release them from the terminals. Just take your time and do a ONE wire OFF / One wire ON replacement procedure.

This is the complete assembly.

The wires just pull off... with some difficulty.

My amana softsound III Model DWA63AL doesn't seem to get dishes clean. I have cleaned filters and everthing seems to operate ok. Water temp good. any advice?

Many people are having trouble with poor performance due to recent EPA changes required in dish washing detergent.
If it makes as much water splashing noise as it used to but it still leaves residue and undissolved food behind...then it's probably the detergent. That's what does the work.

How to refill brake fluid in 1995 hyundai elantra?

Hello,

Manual trans: remove the filler plug (high up on the drivers side of the car... looking at it from underneath) stick a thin hose attached to a fluid pump into the trans until it touches the bottom then **** the old fluid out. then fill to the bottom of the fill plug hole with the correct oil (75W-80W gear oil), replace the filler plug.
Automatic trans: remove the drain plug on the pan, drain into a container, remove pan, clean or replace filter/screen, replace pan, fill with correct oil (not common Dexron II or III -- Hyundai ATF SP-II or Chrsyler spec 7176).

Sandy grit left on dishes.

I was having a different issue with the same model but I think my issues solution might help yours. My dishwasher was not draining properly. It was the air gap that sits on top of the counter by the sink. It was clogged. We removed it and cleaned it out. Maybe if your air gap is slightly clogged as well it is not allowing the dirty water to flow out properly leaving you with gritty dishes. Hope this helps.
