Question about Ovens

Kenmore wall oven model 911.4088816

The oven heats up to the desired temp, but sometimes shuts down periodically. The display reads the set temp, but actual temperature could much lower. The oven may run ten minutes, or a couple of hours, before doing this. When it does occur, there appears to be power from the relays, but the elements will not heat, even when put on broil. Is there temp cut-out that may be acting up, or possibly a control board, or relay board? My wife kinda wants it going for Christmas dinner.

Sort of the same problem. The upper oven seems to heat, and the "Pre-Bake" comes on. It will heat for a while and then, sometimes, will just completely shut itself off. It does this only some of the time. Last time (yesterday) I decided to be stubborn and would turn it back on every time it would turn off. After five or six times, I went to open the oven to check inside, and I was locked out. It wasn't like a cleaning cycle lockout, where the door won't budge. I could open it maybe half an inch, then it is locked. I don't know how to make it open. (Open the door, HAL) OK, I lost the stubborn contest, but why is it doing this and how do I fix it? By the way, it seemed to start this after the last time I did the self-cleaning cycle, if that might have anything to do with it. What can I do? By the way, the bottom oven works fine. It's two+ years old, and I can't find a model number.

try thermostat first. verify heating elements operational, if so check if tstats are same. swap if so, If not jump out tstat and see if higher temp achieved.

It could possibly be you are not getting 240 volts to the range. The top igniter may be getting a current back through the other side of the 240 circuit and that is why it works when the oven is turned on but the oven will not be getting power to heat. Have the 240 circuit checked or make sure the circuit breakers are reset correctly.

The temperature sensor in the oven needs to be replaced. Here is the part to order. As far as the top element, lift the top up and look for lose or broken wires on the element. Keep me posted.

Every fault code I am able to find concerning F-4 period has to do with bad oven sensor. This is the probe coming through the wall inside the oven to read oven temp and to regulate it. Hope this helps. Rick

Oven shuts off by itself

When your oven reaches the desired temp. it shuts down then turns back on again after it cools down a couple of degrees and cycles like this during the complete baking cycle. If your ignitor or oven valve is getting weak it would cause this symptom.
