Question about Kodak 5500 ALL-IN-ONE PRINTER

Won't print in black

My Kodak 5500 won't print in black; I have replaced the cartridge, and run a deep printhead cleaning, and it still won't work!

    I have the same problem with the black printing very little or not at all after replacing the cartridge, running the deep clean and removing the cartridge housing and cleaning the head! I will try calling Kodak. Thanks!

    5500 says replace color cartridge but i only need to fax a document and have a full black cartridge but this error won't go off screen and locks it up.

Your printhead might be dead. Call Kodak tech support and they will ship you a printhead with no charge.

Kindly reseat the cartridges 2 times and then close the access door .Click on Menu on the printer and scroll down and choose Clean printhead and select "deep cleaning"
Print a demo sheet after the cleaning process has been completed. If ur issue persists, Call Kodak @ 1800 421 6699 and they will replace printhead of the printer free of cost.
Printhead is the part which takes the ink out from the cartridges. It seems that the printhead of the printer has gone bad.

Same proplem kodak 5500 aio black ink not printing. color works fine

if you already tried a deep clean and there is no improvement on the printout then you need to buy a new printhead for your printer but if there is an improvement then do another deep clean until you get an acceptable print.

My Kodak 5500 all in one won't print in black ink


This is a common problem. Please follow the below mentioned steps:
  • Reseat the ink and the printhead on the printer.
  • On doing this, the printer will ask you to print a calibration sheet for which, it would display the instructions on the printer screen.
  • After printing the calibration sheet, press Menu button and got to the option Clean Printhead and hit ok.
  • Choose deep clean and hit ok.
If the issue persists, you need to get another printhead.
Kodak will not charge you for the printhead.

Color when I PRINT


actually, I bet you cannot print text either. It will come out very faded or completely blank. It is an issue with the printhead, on the black ink cartridge side.
You can try cleaning it using the printer itself (Menu -- clean printhead -- deep clean ).
IF you have the same problem, contact kodak aio support @ 1 800 421 6699 (open til midnight on ET) or go to www.kodak.com/go/atg and follow the troubleshooting steps there to fix the problem or replace the PH.

Sounds like there is a problem with your printhead. You need to clean it using the printer itself (menu -- clean printhead -- deep clean). If this does not work, go to kodak.com/go/itg to get your printhead replaced, free of charge.

Verify that the ink cartridges are intact and securely inserted into the printhead, then make the same print.
  1. Lift the printer access door, then remove the ink cartridges from the printhead.
  2. Verify that the label on the ink cartridges is intact, and the cartridges are not damaged.
  3. Verify that only KODAK branded ink cartridges are installed.
  4. Insert the ink cartridges into the printhead, then press down firmly until you hear them click into position.
  5. Close the printer access door, then make the same print.
If this will not correct the issue, try to follow these steps
Clean the printhead, then print a demo sheet.

  1. Verify that inkjet paper is loaded in the paper trays.
  2. Press Menu.
  3. Select Clean Printhead, then press OK.
  4. Select Deep Clean, then press OK. The On/Off light flashes green during the cleaning procedure.
  5. When the On/Off light glows a steady green, select Print Demo Sheet, then pressStart.
If these steps will not correct the issue on the printout., you need to call Kodak technical support ( 1 800 421 6699) possible the printhead is defective and it needs to be replaced

When printing, the black ink barely works, acts like it is empty.


Basically you have done most of the procedure for this issue, try resetting the ink then try again, for same issue call support for printhead replacement 1 800 421 6699

Kodak EASYSHARE 5500 will not print with black ink


Here are the things you will be asked to try if you call support. They may fix the problems as well. Taking the printhead out and putting it back in is the big helper.

Remove the black and color ink cartridges.
Right above where the black ink cartridge was, in the top left hand corner of the printhead, push up towards the ceiling and you should be able to push a button that releases the printhead.
Place the printhead right back into the printer and push straight back on the back wall.
You should hear a loud snap.
Replace the ink cartridges which should snap as well.
Close the printer.
After about a minute or so the printer will ask you to do a calibration.
Insert a paper and press start.
Scan the calibration sheet.
After that, in the menu, do a printhead clean.
(If this is a 5100, do it in the home center ->? in the top right ->Maintainence ->Clean Printhead.)
Do one basic and one deep.
Print a demo sheet to see if anything has changed.
If the picture looks better, continue to do cleans.
In the event that it does not, the printhead will need to be replaced and since the printer is still under warranty, Kodak specialists will try to overnight you a printhead.

Won't print black


are you printing from the pc or standalone? if just from printer please try to uninstall reinstall the printhead then recalibrate it then do a deep clean of the printhead then try to print and see if there is improvement. if not...then that is a printhead issue
