I am trying to play a disc but the dvd player wont cut on, eject or anything. When I opened it and put a disc in that way, the red laser lit up momentarily but went off. The entire time the dvd player was off.

Re: malfunctioning DVD player
That is normal for laser to do that.

It seems you will need to open the damn thing, or search for a tech, verify your warranty, dont void it.
First you can try to move a little bit the dvd, unplug and plug, change disc, ieverything that can move a part inside the dvd must be pressed, surely is stucked between the play and the open stage.
Place a disc in the tray with the label facing up. Let it try to read. If the disc is still oriented the same way after it fails, odds are 99 out of 100 the motor has failed....sorry, buy a new one if warrantee has run out.
I had the same problem, After googling for a few minutes I found the reset procedure for this player.
1. Turn it on. 2. Eject any disk you have in there and close the tray. 3. Hold down the "STOP" button on the player (not remote) until the green light flashes red and the system reboots. 4. Insert disk and enjoy.
