Question about Televison & Video
I have a dell plasma 4201c and when I turn it on the power light comes on and hear a click but get no picture. I tried the input and menu buttons but still no picture. Can someone give me an idea of what it could be.
I am an actual Dell repair tech for a non-Dell refurbishing company. I fix this model exact model, as well as all the other plasma TV's that Dell has come out with. If you are looking for a replacement part I suggest starting with either the power supply. But if you are electronicly inclined, I suggest taking voltage measurements across the labeled parts on the power supply that are the following: VS, VSCAN, VSET, VE, and VA. These correct voltage measurements are labled on a sticker in the top right corner of the TV. If they all come out right then your best bet would be the Y-main board with both upper and lower buffers. They are the circuit boards on the left hand side of the TV. As far as getting the parts, thats a whole other story but I hope this helps to narrow down your parts search.

I paid $2200 for a 4201c 26 months ago and it went black yesterday. They say its out of warrenty and wont do anythng for me. I see many complaints on several websites.. Dell should be sued !

I'm having the same problem. The repair shop I went also said it was a problem with the power supply unit and they quoted me $425 to fix it
They said they had no problems getting parts from Dell. I'm a little suspicious.

I have the exact same unit and same problem.
My unit was 2 years old when it failed.
Dell told me they would replace then unit, then a few days later told me they would do nothing for me. When I asked about where to get parts and or get it fixed Dell explained that they will not service, support or supply parts for the unit. PERIOD.
I took the TV to a local repair shop. They said that they think they have found where to source a replacement power supply. It will cost $450 for the part and the labor.
It's about half the cost of a new unit, so I'm not sure what I'm going to do..

Save hours of searching online or wasting money on unnecessary repairs by talking to a 6YA Expert who can help you resolve this issue over the phone in a minute or two.
Best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
