Hi there folks, i was wondering if i have to buy extra maps in order to be able to use this unit properly? I use it now with what only came with it. I would love to have some marine maps for the atlantic areas like newfoundland. Do i have to buy it or can i download it somewhere for free. Or do i just use it as it is now. hope someone can inform me on this matter due to not being able to ever get to talk to tech support at Magellan ever. Thanx again,,,,,,Darren
Check out www.magicmaps.ca they make free maps for the explorist and triton. I've downloaded the Vancouver and Edmonton areas' and they seem to be working fine, use at your own risk though. If you don't see the area you want they will produce that area if requested!
Of course Magellan has all sort of maps, for the right price of course! Or you could do a web search and look for older compatable maps.
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need. goodluck!

Hi Paul61101 more specifically, you can order maps for the UK HERE, but its rather salty...179.95 ...thats a direct link to the page for you to order the UK maps..
you should get a SD card and a CD, put the cd in your computer and it will auto run, then follow the instructions, but mainly you should just be able to stick in the sd card and reboot it, then change the region to the uk
if you need a copy of your manual, you can download a copy HERE for your trax350
For Sony's GPS units a map upgrade is available at: http://www.sonystyle.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?catalogId=10551&storeId=10151&langId=-1&productId=8198552921665838057&XID=M:gpsland:esupport
You need to buy the Navteq map update, but you can call them and send in your memory card they will update it for a reduced cost, since 75 plus 12 shipping is too much just for maps, you can buy a whole new one.
do not bother i had a 700 roadmate they start having lots of problems like fozen screens to losing satilite signals ,get the magellan mastreo 4000 or the roadmate 800 both are portable and has rechargable internal battery,800 you can buy extra batterys, the 4000 has no extra batterys to buy, they both have windows core 5.0 and i have both of them the are real good with no problems.belive me .
You cannot replace American maps with European maps. Garmin does this in order to protect the European retailers. The European SD card eliminates the need to load the maps into the 660, however, if you need to use the card slot to store extra data such as MP3s then you might be better off buying the 670.
