I PLUGGED MY MP3 PLAYER INTO MY LAPTOP USB PORT AND IT USED TO WORK NOW IT SAID THE USB DEVICE HAS EXCEEDED ITS POWER LIMITS OF ITS HUB PORT AND WONT WORK NOW

If you get an error message"Insufficient power to operate USB device" when you plug a USB deviceinto the computer's USB port, then this device is drawing excessive currentthat the USB port cannot supply. The maximum output from an USB port is 500mA. In case such as this, youneed to purchased a powered USB hub and connect this hub into the computer'sUSB port and then connect the USB device into this powered USB hub.

Hello! my problem is that my two USB ports is blown. Now I want to connect more USB port on the motherboard via cable, but none matches the port that the USB or sb_link, jp1... Can you tell me which port...

You will need to get a usb expansion card. These can be found at Best Buy, Newegg.com, tigerdirect.com, pc-connection.com etc...

Some manufactures ship with newer motherboards a usb expansion slot using the motherboard jumper configuration but your motherboard must first be able to support this type of expansion.

I recommend the pci usb expansion. They plug into your PCI slot and give you 2-4 extra USB slots in the back of your computer.

How does a wireless mouse work

Hello

In most cases you will actually have 2 components in regards to a wireless mouse. One of these components will be a transmitter which you actually plug into your computer, and the other components will be the mouse.

Once you have plugged the transmitter into the computer using the USB port, you will need to load the drivers if needed, and it should work.

Please let me know if you need any further assistance.

Kind regards
Andrea

Front usb ports are no longer working after I plugged in an external 2.5" SATA drive. The computer automatically powered off and I had to reboot. Now when I plug in even a flash drive nothing happens....

Hello
The connector of front panel may gone disconnected, you need to check the connector inside the compute and re-connect it properly.
Hope it helps, do rate the solution if so

Hi, I'm sorry to be a total ninny, but how/where do I plug the Data Traveler 16GB into my hard drive? rose

There is nothing wrong in asking such a question, maybe you are a ninny with computers, but you might be a master in another expertise :-). There are many basic tutorials available on the internet. I am giving you a link as well as some photos so that you can exactly locate and plug in the usb flash drive (Data Traveler). If I am right, you want to connect it to your computer (maybe you mistook the terms or maybe you just don't know :), when you say "into my hard drive" that's another thing and I don't think that'd be possible).
Well, first Locate the usb port on your computer, maybe in the front or on the backside of the cabinet (cpu):

This is what exactly the USB ports on your computer looks like.
If your computer is a Desktop, then they (there must be 2 or 3 or 4... ports) should be on the back side of the CPU, but mostly they are also on the Front. And on the laptop, they should be on the side of the main board. I hope you'll be able to recognize them.

Your Data Traveler 16GB should look like this:

Simply catch it and plug in to the USB port of your computer.

If you need further help, let me know.

Good luck.

Thanks for using FixYa.

USB 2.0 on Intel D845PT Motherboard

HI,

Yes, that board is only a 1.1 USB port. USB 2.0 can easily be added to a computer using a USB 2.0 PCI card. These cards are relatively cheap and they can be found in almost any computer store. You can even find USB 2.0 PCI cards at Walmart. The cards will typically have 3 - 5 ports on them. These ports are setup so that you will have to plug your USB devices into the back of the computer.

Good Luck
