Question about Vtech Lands Phones
I have a V Tech 1930c Cordless Phone that has been laying around the house for awhile. The display screen doesn't show numbers or letters, just bits and pieces of both. How can the display screen be fixed? Also the off button doesn't work, and the only way to hang up the phone is to put it back on the cradle. Is there anything to be done with that? This phone is out of warranty and I am not the original owner. The phone is operational. but the screen not displaying is very irritating

Sounds like a power problem.
This model of phone will work as a regular corded phone when no ac power is available.
IE the cordless function is only available when you have electricity.
- is the ac adapter plugged into a working outlet.
- is the ac adapter working.
- is the ac adapter pluged into the base.
hope this helps

I FIXED IT!!! YIPEEE!!
What I did was UNPLUG the base's power unit from the wall... waiting about one minute, and plugged it back in. That caused it to "reboot" the entire system, and the CID now shows itself.

SOURCE: hello -need help with phone
It's not charging the battery, clean the contacts on the base, put it on another base to see if it says CHARGING.
Verify that you have power to the base.
Battery might be bad. Try it in another handset.

This worked for me. Unplug the power to the base for 10 seconds then plug the power back in. That did it for my "connecting....." problem. Good luck!

Press the menu button on the handset and type in (1) (4) (5) THen press 1-6 for LCD Contrast.
Hope that works! I have a panasonic and I love the clarity and range.
Best of Luck, The Writer.
