Kenmore Elite Electric Range, Display stuck on LOC

I loosened the control panel glass for cleaning as per instructions and then replaced but now the display says LOC and I cannot use the oven or oven light though can use some burners.

The controls are very location sensitive.  Try taking all the knobs off again and moving the glass slightly whilst checking whether all the controls work.  Once you find that location hold the glass in place and replace the bushings and then the knobs.

My Kenmore electric oven/stove has been stuck on lock and beeping non-stop for the past few days. Neither the oven nor the stove was working.

Our solution: Unplug, wait a few seconds, then re-plug it in. While it's starting up again, press & hold the Stop/Clear button. Everything should clear up!

Hope that works!

On my panel the 9 and 0 buttons held simultaneously for 3 seconds will toggle between lock and unlock. If you accidently lean on the display you can lock it without realizing what you did. If you lock it by mistake simply push and hold the 9 and 0 buttons together for 3 seconds and it will unlock. I guess this a child lockout function but I have long lost my manual.

Solution 3 worked but it took unplugging and waiting twice to get it to work. The first unplug and wait got the door to open. The second unplug and wait got the LOC to go away. However, I would not attempt to run the self-cleaning again because that's what caused the problem in the first place.

I need direction on how to start the clean cycle on my jenn air

CLEAN PAD
Use to set a self-clean cycle or a delayed
self-clean cycle. One press of the Clean
pad sets up an immediate clean cycle. A
second press of the Clean pad sets up a
delayed clean cycle.
• Clean oven
frame, door
frame (area
outside of gasket)
and
around the
opening in the door gasket with a nonabrasive
cleaner such as Bon Ami*. These
areas are not exposed to cleaning temperatures.
• Remove air grille.
• Remove oven racks. If racks are left in
during a clean cycle, it may impair function
and they will discolor. Turn off the
oven light and close door.
* Brand names for cleaning products are
registered trademarks of the respective
manufacturers.
TO SET FOR IMMEDIATE START:
1. Press Clean pad once.
2. Press the Auto Set pad for 3 hours of
cleaning time, press again for 4 hours
and again if 2 hours of clean time are
desired.
3. CLEANING and LOC plus the clean
time will appear in the display.
4. When the clean cycle is complete,
CLEANED will be displayed. LOC will
remain on until the oven has cooled
(approx. 1 hour).
5. When the oven is cool, LOC will no
longer be displayed and the door may be
opened.
6. Wipe out the oven interior with a damp
cloth. If soil remains it indicates the
cycle was not long enough.

TO CANCEL SELF-CLEAN:
1. Press Cancel pad.
2. If LOC is NOT displayed, open oven
door. If LOC is displayed, allow oven to
cool.

Thanks for using Fix Ya, Please take the time to rate this solution.

Flashing bake and probe indication on GE JD968S

I found the Mini-manual inside the control panel area of the range. I followed the instructions for resetting the control. Instructions are shown below:

Glass touch models only- Lock Reference Command
When the control panel is accessed, the signals used by glass touch panel may be adversely affected. To compensate for this change in signals, the following procedure must be followed every time the control panel is accessed.
1. Make sure power to the range is turned off.
2. Completely close the range control panel and return range to it's normal installation.
3. Apply power to the range.

Accessing the the control panel area but not replacing the control.
4. Enter Special Functions area by pressing BAKE and BROIL keys at the same time for 3 seconds.
5. Reset the control by pressing the 9 and 0 or the HOUR DOWN and MINUTE DOWN keys for 3 seconds at the same time.
6. Approximately 20 seconds after the time is displayed, press the 1 and 5 or the TEMP UP and MINUTE UP keys. The control should briefly go blank, briefly display all segments, briefly display LOC REF, display all segments for 30 seconds, and then display LOC REF.
7. Acknowledge LOC REF command by pressing the 6 and 8 or the HOUR DOWN and MINUTE UP keys at the same time. the control should then display the time of day.
8. The oven should then be ready for normal operation.
9. Test the functionality of the glass control panel, especially the CLEAR/OFF and/or CANCEL key(s).

Steps 4 through 7 are appropriate if you have not opened the control panel area. I had to open mine to clean up moisture caused by a boil over.
Judging from the number of inquiries on this same issue, this is a common problem. GE is more than happy to schedule a service call for this issue, but not so happy to give the information over the phone. This is a fairly simple procedure for most people to accomplish.
The ERC on my range appears to be a fairly common unit. I hope this information helps.

Unlocking Oven controls

According to the manufacturer's website you should only need to Press and hold the "Lock" key for 5 seconds. A single tone will sound and the "Loc" will disappear off the display.

This is the link to Whilpool's website and to the manual.

Lighting the oven

Control Lockout (on some models)
Your control will allow you to lock out the
touch pads so they cannot be activated when
touched or cleaning the glass panel.
To lock the controls:
Touch the 9 and 0 touch pads at the
same time for 3 seconds until the
control beeps twice. The display will
show LOC continuously and the time
of day if not blacked out.
NOTE: All cooking and timing functions will be
cancelled when locking out the control.
To unlock the control, touch the
9 and 0 touch pads at the same time
for 3 seconds until the control beeps
twice, and LOC will be removed from
the display.
NOTE: Some models have a Control Lockout
pad. Touch and hold it for 3 seconds to
lock/unlock.
Gas/Control Lockout (on some models)
Your control will allow you to lock out the
surface burners, oven burners and control
panel so they cannot be activated.
To lock/unlock the controls:
Turn all surface burners off.
Touch and hold the Gas/Control
Lockout pad for 3 seconds until the
display shows LOC ON.
To unlock the control, touch and hold the
Gas/Control Lockout pad for 3 seconds
until the display shows LOC OFF.
When this feature is on and the touch pads
are touched, the control will beep and the
display will show LOC ON.
The control lockout mode affects all
controls. No controls will work when this
feature is activated.
The adjustment will be retained in memory
after a power failure.
