Five conductors are needed to wire 8663rp does that mean five wires is needed to wire fan?

It's a NuTone household fan.
Five conductors usually means five wires, though for example two of the same may be for the same purpose, 0V eg.
The fan also contains two lights. The control of fan and lighs delends on how you choose to wire it up. -
"?For?separate?control?of?fan,?light,?and night?light?three?wall?switches?are?required.?See?NuTone?Catalog?for?accessory?switches.?For?separate?control?of?fan,?light,?and?night?light,?five?conductors?are?needed?between?the?wall?switch?box?and?the?fan's?junction?box" (p1 of manual, below)
For instructions on wiring see manual for example here NuTone 8663RP Installation Instructions Manual p2

10.27.09 - Ceiling Fan Light Kit not Working.

the remote does control the light. i think it's the bottom button, once to turn it on, again to turn it off. there should have been a blue wire connected in to the wires in the ceiling, this is power for the light. if only the white, black, and copper are connected, the light part won't work but the fan will (usually)
