How to transfer audio files to a cd?

You need burned software like Roxio Creator. You can check C-net for free audio burning programs. I think Roxio offers a free version as well.

When I try to download most recent pictures I am forced to download all that are on camera

It depends on what software you are using to transfer photos from the camera to your computer.
If you install and use the "Camera Window" transfer software Canon included with the camera, you will see you have three modes to choose from, including the option to transfer just the photos on your camera that have not yet been transferred.

Connect the camera with a USB cable to your computer.
Power up the camera.
The computer will detect the camera, and open a dialog box offering you a choice of programs on your computer that can handle photo transfers.

If you choose the Camera Window software, it will open and present a menu with three choices of action. The first option is, "Import images from Camera." Select this.

Another submenu opens presenting these three options:

1. Import Untransferred images. (this is what you said you want)
2. Select images to Import. (manually select just certain ones)
3. Import All images (automatically transfers every image on the card)

Menu screenshot, Canon's "Camera Window" transfer software2d13ae76-841e-450d-995d-43cd3e2dd7e6.png
Camera Window is just one of many available image transfer applications you could use. They all do essentially the same three things outlined above, including "Import Untransferred images."

Canon included a couple other utility programs on the CD that came with your Powershot A490 camera. One of them, "Zoom Broswer EX" enables you to reload photos from your computer, back on to your camera's image card, if you want to do that.

New computer, never used a burner before. how to use the dvd burner?

Purchase or download free burning software. There is a number of different softwares to choose for your DVD burning needs. SwiftDisc Burning Wizard Premium, Xilisoft DVD Creator and Nero 9 come with a free trial. The purchasing price is less than $100, as of 2009. Ashampoo Burning Studio Free and BurnAware Free are available if you do not want to buy the software.

  • 2 Insert a DVD into the burner. The DVD-RWs offer the option of erasing the DVD or adding more application to the disk. Do not use this type of disk for playing movies in a regular DVD player or music in a stereo. DVD-R disks are non-erasable. Take extra care when burning on this type of disk, any errors or accidentally opening the drive will cause the disk to stop functioning.
  • 3 Run your burning software. When you insert the disk, a window will appear. Press the "X" in the top right corner. Click on the "Start Menu" icon. Go to "Programs" then click on the burning application folder. You will have different options depending on the program. Typically, you will have the choice of burning data, videos or music.

  • In case you want some free burning software, type in a comment, I will find some for you

How to burn a dvd from an acer laptop

The laptop should have come with CD/DVD burning software preloaded. Acer's specs page for your model says it comes with NTI Media Maker. The program will have help information available to guide you through, and you can find more help online. If you just want to write data files onto a DVD, the process typically is not much more than dragging files to a layout window and telling the program to burn the disc. This gives you a way to back up data, or to store movies in formats you can view on a computer (AVI, MPG, etc.).

On the other hand, if you're asking how to make a video DVD that will play in a regular DVD player like a commercial movie, maybe with features like menus or scene selection and such, the process for making that kind of DVD is more involved. You need some DVD authoring software. NTI may offer that capability, but I'll admit I have never looked.

In most cases, the software that comes preloaded on computers is a limited version of some commercial product. The computer manufacturers get paid to include the program, and the software company hopes you'll buy the full version when you discover the limitations. If you don't want to pay for software, there are free, more full-featured programs available for downloading.

For general CD and DVD burning, I use CDBurnerXP. To make video DVDs, I use a program called DVDStyler. Both are open-source, meaning they are 100% free to download and use, and they both offer a lot of features.

I want to record a dvd - how can i do it?

    You have three options.
1: Use the built-in burning tool of your drive. Put in a blank DVD, and start dragging files onto it. Right click on the DVD and press "finalize" when done.

2: Download the program "Nero Burning Rom" and follow its instructions. The upside of this, is that it offers burning modes that will let you play some video files on a regular DVD player.
Note: The program costs money, but the free trial lasts long enough to see if you like it.
    http://www.nero.com/enu/index.html

3: Use CD Burner XP (if works with DVDs too). It is free and has a TON of options, but is a little hard to use for beginners. I'd recommend reading the help file.

With sony dvdirect vrd-mc5, can I burn pictures from my computer

Yes and no... you can not hook it up directly to your computer and burn copies of pix. You can however transfer your pictures to a memory card (SD, MS or CF) and then put that in the VRD-MC5 and burn your pix.

    Hope this helps!
