2 of 5 burners do not start

The top left and middle burner do not ignite even though there is a spark from the igniter and gas flowing. I have to resort to using matches for these two. any suggestions?

Hi is the spark running of mains or battery if its battery then change it if its mains then you might find that you need to clean the plate that the spark jumps to because if any food has spilled and is making the spark weaker then this can cause you problems as the others light then the actual ignition unit is fine and shouldnt need replacing just check everything is clean and nothing lodged in the gap between the ignition and where the spark actually jumps to also check for any damage like if the ceramic pin is bent where the spark comes from if it isnt a big enough gap then it will cause a weak spark and cause the problem your having.
The first thing i would do is remove all the rings and give everything a good clean and degrease everything once you have done this let me know and then i can assist you further ok

Check to make sure the outlet holes of the burner are clean, and that there is nothing blocking thee ones closest to the spark gap. Also try moving the spark rod a little closer to the burner, as this may help produce a stronger spark. If all else fails, check to see if the sparker is getting sufficient voltage.

The spark gap needs to have flow of gas across it for ignition to occur. The gas outlet holes at the point where the igniter sparks may be blocked, clean and inspect these for any blockages. Also check that the igniter spike is in the correct place. Careful evaluation of the position of the igniter in reference to the gas ring on the other rings may help you here. Good luck

Why want middle burner light automatically but will light with a lighter

That unit is suppose to have electronic quartz igniters. Apparently there's a problem but it doesn't automatically mean the igniter needs to be replaced. If you see a spark from the igniter then it's fine. If you see a spark but no flame then the ignition process is out of synchronization. In other words, the gas hasn't concentrated near the spark enough to ignite. This may be a matter of low gas pressure or the extra length the gas needs to flow to reach the center burner is impeding ignition. Simple fix is turn the knob just enough to start the gas for 2 seconds then continue the turn to click the igniter. or simply use a match. You may also see if there are any adjustments on the gas manifold that will enhance bringing more gas to the center burner quicker. Some unit have one click & that's it, others click the igniter continuously until you release turning the knob. Good luck. you'll figure it out.

Jenn-Air JDG8430 Ignitor won't stop sparking after burner ignites

Test the ignitor first, if the ignitor does not spark should be the ignitor itself.

I cleaned the gas top and the two left side burners do not ignite

Take the burners out, then take a needle and stick in the small hole where the gas comes thru.

Extra low burner that won't ignite

Lowly what the potentior does is turn on the burner control system. When you turn on a normal burner you are opening a gas valve and closing a switch to generate a spark. Thus gas flow to the burner and spark. On the extra low simmer burner there is a electric solenoid between the burner head and the gas valve. this has to open as well for gas to flow. What the potentior does is signal the simmer control what level of flame you are requesting and telling the spark module to generate a spark. Once you go to the exlow setting the potentior tells the simmer control what level of heat and will cycle the flame on and off. So when the burner knob was between low and extra low, the flame would cycle on and off. You have to seperate the top section of the cooktop from the burner box to change the potentior for it sits on top of the gas valve for that burner.

No Ignition

Dirt. Spilled oil, grease, milk etc. act as isolator and prevent contact between burner and casing (mass). You need to clean up burners, scrub all the dirt and make sure their seats are cleaned too (brass elements below burners).

Some Burners Will Not Ignite

probably a worn wire to the electrode or a cracked ignitor. you are faced with taking off the hobtop and looking - no easy solution. you should not do this unless you are confident and don't interupt the gas path
