SOURCE: Big grey/black spot
Is it a fuzzy spot or an actual hard edged black spot?LCD televisions can have a loss of pixel display- most very small. Was the TV hit with something or dropped against something (the screen)?
OR Try this first:
Black box appears on the screen
• Closed-captioning might be on. Check the Analog or Digital Caption option in the Setup menu.
Please let me know if your problem is solved. Thank You.

SOURCE: LONG BLACK MARKS
Canadian company Tim Horton's uses SHARP 37" LCDs in the stores for advertisements. Alot of them have what look like marks from improper cleaning or almost cloud like stains on the sides of the screens.
On the Sharp screens this is panel separation and is a sign that it is time to replace the screen. This should be covered if the screen is still under warranty.

Hi, I have a Sony Grand Wega LCD Projection TV that has a blotted gray streak across the front of the screen. I only use a damp cloth to clean the window and that doesn't seem to help. It really shows up on light pictures and is unnoticed when the picture is a little darker. What can I do to fix this problem???

Sorry not a solution just confirmation of similar fault on a Samsung 32" . I to have this problem which appears to be getting worse . started with 1 mark and has now spread to about 20% of the screen albiet numerous marks. It appeared after 18months to 2 years after purchase in 2006 so now 4 years old. I've accepted there's nothing to be done and out of warranty. Problem is purchase a new set Samsung or another. But will I have the same problem 2 years after??
