Palm Treo 680 does not power up (by 11 users)

The red light comes on when plugged into charge. But will not power up at all. Even when plugged into the wall. I can't get this thing to turn on.

I don't even get a green light. It only stays RED.
Tech Support told me to return the unit. It's faulty and that's all there is to it. I hope I did not buy a piece of crap.

YES! I am having the same problem here!! It does not turn on!! All I get when I'm charging it is a red light!! It does not turn to green!!! And when I put the battery a get a palm logo charging, and at the end of it the screen goes black again and I can't turn it on!!!

My Palm Treo 680 won't turn on, even when it's plugged in. All I get is the red light. I had already put it in for repair once. When I got it back, it worked for a while, but then now it's doing that again.

Apprenticeive had my phone for almost 2 months now. My old treo 680 didnt even turn on... this was a replacement. Now it seems i'm having the same problem again where the phone froze and now it wont even turn on. Its really starting to piss me off now and if anyone can give any advice besides "taking out the battery" or "hard and soft resets" it would be great.

as for my phone... this will probably not work for others but at the point you may be at with your phone its worth it to try it all... i removed the battery and sim card and left the phone (with no battery) plugged in over night. In the morning i put in only the battery to see if it started and it did. As it was moving unbelievably slow, i then preformed a hard reset, then re-inserted my sim and the phone has been working like normal for the remainder of the day.

Pressing the power button with erratic results. Sometimes the unit will turn on - sometimes it won't. Taking the battery out doesn't work any more. Sometimes putting it on the cradle and pressing the power button will work - but not always. Very frustrating - this issue coupled with others I've had - grrr. I've really about had it with this device.

Same as above. I let mine discharge overnight, then connected to charger, red light showed, but the unit would not turn back on. I tried all of the tricks, like taking out the battery and putting back in, taking out the SIM card and tried turning on with and without the SIM card.
When I put the battery back in, in every situation, the Palm logo comes on and the line moves across the bottom to the end, but then the screen goes black and no turn-on follows.

same problem happening to me. soft reset worked a few days ago but not today. my Treo 680 won't respond to any keys at all. tried removing SD card but didn't help. tried recalibrating battery by removing battery, plugging in, and putting battery back in - no difference.

My Treo 680 did the exact same thing today. It will not turn on even though the green light shows the battery is fully charged when plugged in.
