Hi,

If I am not mistaken you have JVC GR-D295US according to the Tag heading, of this issue that you have posted. To transfer the video from your camcorder to the PC, you can follow the steps that I have posted below,

1. Connect your GR-D295US camcorder to the computer with the help of the DVI cable (you can go through the Camcorder's user manual or guide to understand how to connect the camcorder to your PC). Find the link below for the manual Go through the “Connecting A Personal Computer” Section.
http://resources.jvc.com/Resources/00/00/94/LYT1434-001C.pdf
2. Then you can Click on start point to All programs and select Windows Movie maker to transfer the video.
3. Once the Windows Movie maker screen has opened than you can select the “Capture form video device” option.
Alternately you can also refer to the “Movie Making Tips” on the left of the window if you need assistance.

Should you require any further assistance regarding this issue or even require assistance regarding any other computer related issue in future please feel free to contact us, We will be more than glad to assist you.

Regards

Malik Khan

The easiest way to do this is to purchase a new video card for your P.C. that has rca inputs on it, you wil then need to obtain some software that such as Nero burning rom to record the video from your tape to the P.C. and this software will also allow you to burn it to a cd rom or dvd (if you have a dvd burner).

I hope this helps, please feel free to post a comment if you need any more information about this.

How do I upload miniDV tapes to PC running windows 7. What's the best way to save the tapes for editing

Use the IEEE1394 Firewire interface on your PC if you have one. If your PC does not have a IEEE1394 port then you may be able to add one via an internal add-on card or a PCMCIA card if it is a laptop. With Windows 7, you can use Windows Moviemaker to capture the video. Don't bother with USB capture as this will be low quality and too slow. Moviemaker is not great for editing so you should investigate alternatives.
Captured video will take about 4GB of hard disk space for 20 minutes of video. If you are using a FAT32 file system then this is the maximum file size limit. You should therefore use NTFS to capture large video files.

Cannot transfer tape contents to PC

Hi,
To transfer video from your camera you will need a firewire cable and a firewire port on your PC. If you don't have such a port you can buy a PCI firewire port.
After you connected your camera with firewire cable you can then use windows movie maker to transfer your video.

How to convert dv tape from Canon ZR20 to MY COMPUTER hard drive?

To transfer video off your minidv cassettes from your camcorder you would need to have a firewire connection to your PC. Either a 4 to 4 pin connection (laptop) or a 4 to 6 pin (desk top computer). USB is used only for picture still transfer. Here are the steps;

1. Plug your mini Dv camcorder into an outlet
2. Plug in you firewire connection into your computer, then plug the other end into your camcorder.
3. Turn on your camcorder and switch your camcorder to Play/VCR
4. Select the software that you want use to do the transfer. Windows Movie Maker is the most assessable software since you have XP on your computer
5. Name your file
6. Select capture from video device (automatically will allow you to save the entire tape and manually would allow you to capture parts of the tape).

Those are the basic steps in some detail. You can save your file from there or you can go on to edit.

Hi, Since videos are taped in DV format, you need a firewire card (IEEE-1394) and cable. These are cheap. May be your PC already has a firewire card. Just check. Windows XP recognises automatically the camcorder. Moreover, its integrated video capture/editing module, Windows Movie Maker, is very userfriendly. USB connection is only good for downloading still images (photos) to your PC. For more information, go to http://www.videohelp.com/. good luck
